Can I remove border...new to MAC

In PAGE I have created an XMas letter for my mom (with pix....it's pretty basic ). I'm satisfied with the text and pix I have incorporated into the X-Mas letter but when I started I must have chosen a template with a border...how do I create this document and remove the border...she already has the paper with border etc. on to which the document will be printed so I can't have any extra "fluff"

George,

I asked which template you were using because Apple employs a bunch of different techniques to get similar results -- I guess for the purpose of showing users the various ways things can be done. Anyway, I dinked around with the family template to see what they did with the borders. Here's how you'll need to delete them:

1. Make the page larger so you can see some gray border on the right side;
2. Click on Format > Advanced > Make Master Objects Selectable;
3. Click in the right-hand gray margin area, then drag the cursor to the edge of the outside border; you'll notice some tiny little X's in the corners of the border;
4. Click on Arrange > Unlock; you should now see selection handles around the border;
5. Press the delete key to erase the border;
6. Repeat the process for the inner border.

Yes, if you have a Pages 1 document on a memory stick, you should be able to open it in Pages 2. But you won't then be able to open that doc in Pages 1, unless you save it as an iWork '05 document.

Does this help?

Hello George,

you can remove borders of objects by selecting the specific object, so you see the resize/rotate handles, and than show the "Graphic" inspector and choose the item "None" of the stroke type menu in the "Stroke" section.

But perhaps the border is made of an object laying in the master page. Than you can't select it without making it selectable. For that, choose the menu item "Format > Advanced > Make Master Objects Selectable". Select the object and delete it.

Now there is the chance that the object is laying behind the main text area of the page and you can't select it by clicking on it. If it is so, click beside the object near the page border where no text area or object is and drag so the select frame touches the object. If you have selected other objects, too, hold the shift key pressed and deselect the other objects.

If this all don't help you, please describe your layout with more details or write us, which template you have choosen for your document.

Thanks for your quick response guys. I chose the "Family Newsletter" template and deleted it's contents and then inserted my own text and pictures, not realizing that there was a double-line border around the page that I had not removed. I was actually working on my mom's MAC and using iWork '05 at the time and now I am back home using my own MAC with iWork '06 (Pages) and see that one of the template options is BLANK. I don't recall that having been an option when I was working in '05 bcause if it was, that's what I should have selected, right?
Irregardless, I put quite a bit of work into my almost-finished project and if I could eliminate the border without a great deal of difficulty it would be great.

Please be BASIC in your instructions...I'm not so much new to MAC as I am a complete newbie to Pages.

BTW, I put my '05 project on a memory stick...will I be able to open it in my '06 program?

I REALLY appreciate the help! These APPLE discussion forums are one of the reasons I will never go back to WINDOZE.
