Lots of disreputable websites have 'adverts' which say you need to install/update Flash etc. to view them.


As Terence Devlin says never ever download Flash from any site other than www.adobe.com, these disreputable websites you appear to be visiting are instead trying to trick you into installing malware to take over your computer, and yes some of it these days can attack Macs as well as Windows computers.


Similarly if you see visit a website and see a message saying you need to run a 'diagnostic' to speed up/clean up your computer do not do this, it is yet another scam trying to infect your computer.


Computers, the Internet and yes malware have now been around for decades, even 'silver surfers' should be wise to these basic tricks by now so I am starting to lose sympathy for people foolish enough to click on these links.
