How do I download Adobe flash player on OS10.11 El Capitan? Every time i try loading a live site, it tells me I need to up date flash player but when I push update it wants to load a bunch of programs from unknown company .

Never, ever, ever download flash from anywhere except the Adobe site. They're the makers. It's a terrible technology and breeds bugs like a petrie dish but at least you only get the Adobe bugs from there.
Lots of disreputable websites have 'adverts' which say you need to install/update Flash etc. to view them.
As Terence Devlin says never ever download Flash from any site other than www.adobe.com, these disreputable websites you appear to be visiting are instead trying to trick you into installing malware to take over your computer, and yes some of it these days can attack Macs as well as Windows computers.
Similarly if you see visit a website and see a message saying you need to run a 'diagnostic' to speed up/clean up your computer do not do this, it is yet another scam trying to infect your computer.
Computers, the Internet and yes malware have now been around for decades, even 'silver surfers' should be wise to these basic tricks by now so I am starting to lose sympathy for people foolish enough to click on these links.

if a site is telling you it's out of date and you are up to date with the the one from get.adobe.com it is very likely suspect in trying to force you to download something disguising itself as Flash and possibly some form of crapware or worse.
