Why Apple not Manufacturing Cameras ?

have you SEEN the TV commercials for the iPhone? The slo-mo caterpillar (or is it real-time?) is great!

I am expert in optics - Zeiss is the undisputed king. A lens system for zoom is far superior to 'digital' zoom of course as there is no 'loss' - it's optics.

Others have spoken well to the DSLR issue. There are clearly many fine ones in the marketplace. Apple would certainly need a mean streak to try to enter that market today - a company only goes into such endeavors to win.

DSLR's are dead.

Canon and Nikon are desperately trying to find a way to make mirrorless cameras that won't cannibalize DSLR sales.

Don't get me wrong, I shoot a DSLR, but that is not a market Apple is interested in. You have to develop the camera and a series of lenses, and optics design is a *very* specialized field.
