OS X El Capitan: Parental Controls NOT working

Using a managed account, and selecting "only allow these websites", when managed/ or Admin user logs out and then back in and parental controls are opened by ADMIN account, "try to limit access to adult websites" is selected. MBP restarted, ADMIN goes back into managed account and selects only allow...and same thing happens....also if I enter specific websites that are NOT to be accessed at all under "Custom" these websites disappear next logging from ADMIN or Managed account.....Parental Controls worked fine with Yosemite....Can anyone help?

I noticed in the last update they released Apple mentioned fixing the parental controls. I was grateful and tonight decided to test it.

They are still busted. I shouldn't have to delete a user account and re-create it for these to work. I shouldn't have to manually check all the boxes under apps when there is a check all box. The check all box is busted. When I click on one box it automatically unchecks other boxes below it. It is erratic and still busted. Hopefully they will get the message and try again.

If it has not already been mentioned in this thread, everyone here should submit a bug report at: https://bugreport.apple.com

One would hope that a resolution might be more forthcoming with a higher demand on Apple's bug list.

We are seriously considering installing Windows on all our Macs because macOS has become completely unmanageable due to permissions being unmanageable. If we take that path, sadly all our future purchases would have to be PCs with Windows. We don't like Windows, but at least it's manageable.

Many fundamentals have gone by the wayside since 10.6.8, but permissions is such a huge deal breaker. This issue has been going on for so long now, in our case since 10.11.3, that it really undermines confidence.

What is to say that permissions won't break in another way?

For example, a protected share to a file or folder suddenly returns to a default "read only" for "everyone", and all we can look forward to is the default non-responsive brick wall of the Apple engineering team, that we are currently experiencing with the lack of Parental Controls permissions.

That is a seriously scary prospect for an admin of this environment.

Fingers crossed.

Following this thread I feel your frustration as I am dealing with the same problem!! I have come up with a workaround being that Apple does not want to pull their head out of their *** and fix this. This fix will work only for the people that are having issues with the "Web Filtering" not the people that are having issues with controlling the apps. What I had to do to workaround this issue is head over to Open-DNS https://www.opendns.com/ and setup an account, you can then filter to your hearts consent and then just point your DNS to the specified servers listed on Open-DNS inside your network settings. Next set the filtering in parental controls to allow unrestricted access, and there you go your filtering your child's internet access again!!
