Siri remote not working

I have the same issue, but the old silver remote do work. Now does anyone know how to add the new Apple remote to the Apple TV ?

Do,I need to remove the old one first ?

You have to hold down the siri button while asking a question.

I Can confirm that the silver remote works and then once you can move through the menus you are able to pair the new remote

the buttons all work on my remote except when i press the siri button, she can't hear me. anyone else running into this?

I'm having this same problem, the remote works fine for everything apart from talking to Siri, whenever I press and hold the Siri button before I even finish asking for something It says "I didn't quite get that." Ive tried reseting the Apple TV, repairing the actual remote and switching Siri off and back on again in the settings but to no avail. Thinking I might have to return the remote, do I have to take the AppleTV unit as well or can I just take the remote?

I got it working. I took out the cdmi to dvi adapter and suddenly siri can hear me. All is working as expected now. I have no idea why this would have any effect but its' worth a try. Are you using an adapter?

No, my setup is TV to Home Theatre to AppleTV, I'll try cutting out the home theatre and see if that makes a difference.

It worked after using the old silver remote to navigate through setup. Once setup I was able to pair the siri remote to the ATV4. Way to complicated!

Right I finally got it to work by doing another full system reset and set it up manually rather than using my iPhone for configuring all the settings, I have no idea why thats made a difference but Siri now works for me, overall I like the ATV4 but the software needs a lot of work and the much better search for the app store.

Fixed - You have to grab a third party remote (even the previous ATV generation ones) with at least the 4 arrows and ok button.

Complete the setup process with this remote and then once you are in the ATV springboard put your ATV4 remote close to the ATV and press MENU + VOLUME UP.

You will notice a pop-up in the upper right corner that notice you that now it is paired. Then you can start using the atv4 remote.

I called support at Apple
They told me that I had to visit the apple store.

I have just made

They took the old remote control (ATV 3), went to Setup bluetooth and got paired siri remote control.

Now it works as it should

Just got off the phone with Apple support. Will be going to the Apple Store tomorrow. Remote does not do anything but we did get to the set up screen, which is in Chinese. This is my first AppleTV so I am very disappointed.

Thank you!! Was driving me crazy... Used my Sharp TV remote and worked fine... I just went into settings once into the system and set up the remote. All works well now!! WHEW.....

Update, I did get a replacement at the store. Works perfectly. I was either a bad remote or bad Apple TV. They even tested the replacement at the store at my request. Easy and fast, no complaints.

Charge Remote for one hour then set up Tv 4

Put remote on charge overnight .

It maybe flat if its been in box for a while .
