Apple TV (4th Gen) won't play iTunes content from library

Same thing here. Only happens on certain movies, some work, some do not. Tried the Create New Version and it said it was already in the correct format. Worked on my previous Apple TV, version 3.

still only playing the first 20 seconds or so of a movie. playing music fine.

apple store tested my apple TV and said it was fine.

still same Prob´s in Germany.

I have 3 x ATV3 & 1x ATV4.

All my ripped Seasons and Movies works fine on MacOS X, IOS9 and ATV3. But they don´t work on ATV4.

And converting via iTunes to newer version take no effect.

Shame on u tvOs Engineers.

I had the same problem. The solution for me was rather simple. Using Quicktime Player on my Mac I've converted to M4V format by using the export function in Quicktime Player. Only some of my movies were in this format that won't play MP4. Once converted they play fine with the same video and audio quality.

I had the same issue. The problem that I was able to determine is that the Codex on some of my videos are H.264 and some are MPEG-4. Not sure how or why that happened, but it occurred during the ripping process (WinX DVD).

My ATV 3 played both formats, and after talking with Apple Customer Service, I found out that the ATV 4 has different software and will not play the MPEG-4 codex. I downloaded Handbrake, converted a previous movie that was MPEG-4 to the H.264 codex.

The newest video (H.264) works fine. So, I will be converting any MPEG-4 codex files to the H.264, luckily I don't have that many - still a few days work though. The only other option is to return the ATV 4 and get another ATV 3 off eBay.

Try going to settings>apps>iTunes Movies & TV Shows, then turn off quick start
