How can I restore the Finder Sidebar Icon for my shared device?

After upgrading to El Capitan, the icon for my NAS has changed to a question mark. How can I recover the old icon or replace the question mark with one less annoying than a question mark?

I can connect to device OK but having it represented as a question mark grabs my attention too much as it suggests something less trivial is wrong.

See the nice little picture of my Time Capsule in the Finder sidebar? And the Mac Mini server looks very pretty! But the LaCie NAS looks well naff.

Well, the NAS has been shown as a question User uploaded filemark for days and days - since I upgraded to El Capitan.

So I ejected the NAS - not for the first time - and ⌘+K (Connect to Server) connected to the NAS afresh.

I had the info panel open still as shown in the screenshot. Lo and behold the "Preview" changed from a question mark into a 1990's VDU - Wow! There's progress for you. OK I can go and get a life now ... I shan't wonder how to make the Preview Icon look less like something out of the Science Museum's display case!
