car bluetooth problems with iOS 9 update

Since doing iOS 9 update my iPhone 5 won't reliably work in my car (mercedes benz clk with bluetooth adaptor)

previously under iOS 8 it worked perfectly pairing automatically when in car, and diverting calls to car system both incoming and outgoing all worked flawlessly even

siri would work through dashboard microphone

now it is total chaos

some times it works immediately, some times it refuses to work at all

most times it is unpredictable and often requires toggling blue tooth on and off on both phone and dashboard until ringtones heard through dashboard speaker system

what works in the morning won't reliably work in the afternoon

if tried reset phone

forget this device

repairing

not sure what else i can try

wish i could down grade back to iOS 8

The iOS Update 9.1 has solved this issue of Bluetooth pairing in my '15 MB GLA45. All previous-to-updating-to-iOS9 functions have been restored.

I too am having issues, just purchased a 2016 RX 350 Lexus today and when paired, my iPhone 6 version 9.2.1 switches to iTunes whenever I send a message using Siri but is fine when I receive a message. The IT guy at Lexus paired his iPhone 6s, no issue, not sure what version he has. Sure hope there is a solution soon, it is very frustrating to have to listen to what Siri chooses for me.

I have been having problems with my voice recognition on the Hyundai car media system with my Iphone 5 9.2.1 update - it previously worked - now if I press voice it rings my number and then hangs up. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it as I have taken it back to dealership and all they can tell me is that it is an apple problem - have tried all apple solutions to fix issue but nothing works. It is only the voice component that doesn't work - the rest of the functions work fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh androids work fine.

I have an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.2.1 and, since updating to 9.2, have had issues with bluetooth connectivity in my 2013 Honda Accord. Never had these problems before the update. Biggest issue is that iTunes plays like crap now. Only the right speakers work and the front left speaker is all static. Aweful! (Radio and Sirius XM play just fine on all speakers.) I also have had intermittent problems where I make or receive a call and the sound doesn't come through the speakers; the radio keeps playing through the speakers.

From what I've read, I could try:

(a) erasing my phone from the car's list and re-connecting it, but people are saying that didn't solve it

(b) rebooting my phone, as needed, perhaps every time I get in the car?!

(c) connecting my phone to the car with the sound system OFF, then turning it on (not too painful if it works)

(d) turning Siri off (I never use Siri anyway so I'm going to start with this one)

(e) hoping that 9.3 fixes it (hope is not a strategy)

(f) talking to my dealer as it may be related to old software or the car's noise cancelling system (seems unlikely since y'all are suffering with the same troubles)

(g) using my iPod instead of my phone to play music (an annoying but possible solution until Apple gets this fixed)

Really sorry to hear that. I don't think its a protocol limitation and it can be cured. Its a software problem. Period. Old iOS versions worked fine. New iOS 9 does not. Apple needs to understand their loyal customers don't care about new and flashy features if the basic connectivity infrastructure capabilities are not reliable and robust.

By the way, my new Samsung Galaxy S7 works GREAT! Sorry Apple, but this BT problem pushed me over to them. Hours on the road in my car on conference calls requires a reliable handsfree product. No wonder Tim Cook didn't spend much time talking about CarPlay yesterday!

I did the 9.3 update. So far, the Ford SYNC and the iPhone are playing together nicely. When I press the button to use SIRI, it works and does not push the audio system over to Bluetooth. The only glitch I have noticed is that my iPhone no longer plays its audio alert tones/sounds when an e-mail or SMS message arrive. Prior to all of these software upgrades, the sounds did play.

Got 9.3 last night and tested it out this morning on my 2016 GMC Terrain.

Fixed:

When using Siri, was able to listen to Siri's response, the infotainment stayed on XM and didn't go over to bluetooth.

Voice to text with Siri turned on, does not change to bluetooth and stay, it turns audio off for speaking. However, there is still a 2 - 3 in choosing that and then being able to talk.

Not fixed:

Google maps, still only works fully in Infotainment bluetooth mode. If chosen to listen as a bluetooth phone call still a 2 - 3 second delay in navigation audio playing over radio. Had to turn the map settings off of bluetooth to hear the entire instructions.

So still a major problem because the Onstar navigation routes are awful.

Unpaired and repaired my iPhone6 running on iOS 9.3 in my Chevy Cruze yesterday. What seems to be working: Most games / apps that previously would cause MyLink to switch to Bluetooth sound. One exception: I have the "Princess Bride" slot machine game and that did cause MyLink to pump out the sound. Not sure what it is doing different. I'm going to test voice texts and phone calls today.
