Spilled hot chocolate on Retina MacBook Pro

A friend of mine spilled hot chocolate on the left side of my MacBook Pro keyboard. I'd say was about 8 oz. of hot chocolate. Pretty much every key left of the "Command", "X", "S", "W", and "2" key were affected as well as part of the trackpad. I immediately flipped the computer over and lightly shook out the liquid (the computer was still on at this point). After that I turned the computer off. Next I removed every affected key, dropped them in warm soapy water, and used a q-tip to clean where the keys had been. I let it sit upright for two hours before setting it upside down on a bench and having a fan blow on the keyboard from beneath. My questions are:

1. What more should I do to give it the best chance of remaining functional?

2. What are the chances it still works?

3. The spill happened around 1PM November 1st, how long should I leave it turned off before turning it back on?

By some miracle the computer is still working and appears to be fully functional. I just turned it on about an hour ago and have been checking it out, doing everything I normally do and haven't hit a bump yet (knock on wood). Thanks for your suggestion about Home Insurance, I'll make sure the remember that if this happens again (hope not!).

Peace and Love
