Which will not work with Apple apps. See this from their FAQ list: Apple does not provide native mouse support for iOS. The Citrix X1 Mouse communicates directly with Citrix Receiver as opposed to communicating with iOS. Citrix X1 Mouse and Citrix Receiver utilize Apple’s publically supported APIs to establish the Bluetooth communication (BLE) between the X1 Mouse and Citrix Receiver. The mouse functionality is only available on XenApp and XenDesktop hosted apps and desktops and Citrix ShareConnect, ShareConnect and GoToMyPC mobile apps, the mouse will not function for other iOS apps. The mouse can also be used on a non-iOS device, in which case the X1 Mouse behaves just like a standard Bluetooth 4.0 mouse.
If you were shocked to learn this after purchase, then you failed to adequately research the product befor buying it. Don'e expect muse support for iPads anytime in the next several years. Ain't gonna happen.
Hi,
Jump Desktop 7.1 for iOS (https://jumpdesktop.com) now supports a physical mouse and an external keyboard without the need to jail break. It is a RDP and VNC client so you can connect to Windows, Mac and Linux.

Not really the point of this entire thread though is it? Microsoft's RD client app has supported a mouse with Remote Desktop connections for years, as have numerous other apps. None of them, including Jump Desktop, have anything at all to do with actually providing mouse support in iOS with native iOS apps.
Having an app that supports a mouse for use in a remote access session to another computer is a completely different matter, and one that numerous VNC and Remote Desktop client apps have supported in iOS for years.
This does not help the general iPad using communtity since you are only referencing a specific app ( a rare use remote VNC style app, at that) that only has mouse support for these style apps.
Most, but by no means all, remote computer access apps have had some remote mouse and trackpad or trackpad-like support.
Just like only certain apps only support full Bluetooth smart stylii, like the Apple Pencil or by other third party styllii designers and developers.
But this kind of mouse support is not across all iOS apps nor integrated into iOS, itself.
This post topic is about full mouse support integrated fully into iOS which may or may not come to Apple's mobile devices for some time to come.
Who knows? Only Apple.

Do you have a link for this? When I looked, I didn't see a reference for mouse support on an ios device.

No, I don't have a link, but I've been using MS's RD Client on my own iPads (currently an Air 2 and a Pro) for the past several years for VPN Remote Desktop sessions with my windows 7 desktop at work. RD client has always supported a mouse on the Remote Desktop. Several other Remote Desktop cloents I tried 2-3 years ago also support that feature. You can't really build a successful Windows remote desktop app if you don't build in mouse support on the Remote Desktop.
In RD Client, you drive the remote desktop mouse by touch on the iPad screen, just as you drive the mouse in all iOS Remote Desktop apps. iOS itself remains a purely touch interface, used to drive the mouse cursor (screen taps replacing mouse clicks) with your finger. Jump desktop works the same way. None of these apps in iOS work with a physical mouse - they support a mouse interface on the remote but the app in iOS is still purely a touch interface app.
Jump desktop does NOT support a physical mouse as there is no way to connect a local mouse to the remote machine. It supports a BT keyboard, but it still requires you to drive the remote mouse by touch. Any mouse in your hand with the iOS device has no way at all of connecting to the remote machine And iOS has no way of reading mouse input at all, so no way of forwarding it to the remote machine.
Posters here are confusing a feature of touch support for remote mouse cursors with using a physical mouse with remote connections. IOS does not support physical mouse input, for any app.
Michael I think you missed the part about a 'physical mouse'. Yes - RDP / VNC clients support a mouse pointer that can be manipulated using touch gestures, but none (including the Microsoft RD Client as of now) support a physical mouse paired to the iPad. This is why I thought this is relevant to discussion that Jump Desktop now supports an actual physical mouse paired to the iPad which you can now use to control the remote machine.
>> Jump desktop does NOT support a physical mouse as there is no way to connect a local mouse to the remote machine
This is not correct, this is my entire point: Jump Desktop 7.1 now DOES support a physical mouse paired to the iPad. It has to be a specific mouse, but it works!
Having just downloaded and tried it, I'd say that may be misleading It certainly does not recognize nor work with either of my two logitech BT mice.
i had it from awhile ago but was never impressed. This update leaves me still unimpressed with Jump - RD client at least works seamlessly.
i May be missing something with the setup, but there is also nothing in their support section about how to setup a physical mouse with iOS, so no help there If I am.
thanks for the info
I should have mentioned this before: It requires a specific mouse that can actually pair with the iPad - the Swiftpoint GT (http://swiftpoint.com/)
So, along with a $15 app users need to buy a specific $149 BT mouse? Yes, perhaps you might have mentioned that. My two Logitech BT mice combined cost much less than that.
> Along with a $15 app users need to buy a specific $149 BT mouse
Indeed, I should have added that to my first post. Sorry about that. Just reporting that it's possible.
It's possible, but not practical with only support for only one specific and very much expensive a BT mouse that works with that specfic app.
Kinda ridiculous and not worth the hassle of using this app, IMHO.
When all is said and done this app, actually, cost you $165.00 U.S.D to use!
My finger or smart Bluetooth stylus to navigate a remote computer access client is cheaper!

Hopefully, that option will be useful to some people. Thanks for the info.
The Citrix X1 mouse looks more like a bust. You'll need to install the complete citrix environment. Citrix made it name as running virtual pc desktops. Not sure if they have a simple remote desktop server.
"Citrix X1 Mouse delivers the complete mobile workspace experience to iPad and iPhone devices by enabling mouse precision to virtual Windows apps and desktops."
You need to install Critix software on your host box.
