Which will not work with Apple apps. See this from their FAQ list: Apple does not provide native mouse support for iOS. The Citrix X1 Mouse communicates directly with Citrix Receiver as opposed to communicating with iOS. Citrix X1 Mouse and Citrix Receiver utilize Apple’s publically supported APIs to establish the Bluetooth communication (BLE) between the X1 Mouse and Citrix Receiver. The mouse functionality is only available on XenApp and XenDesktop hosted apps and desktops and Citrix ShareConnect, ShareConnect and GoToMyPC mobile apps, the mouse will not function for other iOS apps. The mouse can also be used on a non-iOS device, in which case the X1 Mouse behaves just like a standard Bluetooth 4.0 mouse.
That is your interpretation and takeaway from the marketing material. I don't see this statement anywhere in the iPad material.
"laptop replacement"
IMO, if you can't view these blurbs and clearly see there is no mouse needed (in Apple's opinion) to do these things, you are reading between the lines to reach your negative POV. They're using pictograms to make it easy to grasp. No MOUSE required to "do these things" This is about moving on from a laptop, NOT replacing one feature-for-feature with a tablet.
This whole thread is like a bacon lover commenting... "Once they put some salt and nitrates into that tofu-bacon, I'll have it at breakfast."
It's a different product with a unique but similar or even superior workflow producing similar or even superior results.

You are certainly free to feel whatever you like. And, Apple is free to sell whatever they see fit. No one here can change either your feelings or Apple's decisions.
Submit your feedback to Apple here suggesting they do something different:
I think LACAllen pretty well covered the reasons why your feelings are simply your opinions and not, in fact, Apple's marketing strategy.

I for one feel that since they are trying to sell the iPad Pro (specifically the 12") as a laptop replacement it has to support a mouse. For me I would gladly stop carrying my laptop if it had a mouse as it would be a pleasure to work on for a few hours away from my desk. But without a mouse I can't, just not convenient or as efficient. This isn't about using Facebook or something but using the iPad with a VDI solution to replace a laptop.
I totally disagree

I think that's one of the best ways of explaining this I've seen.
Here is apples new ad for the iPad pro. I know this has been beaten to death but certainly looks like they are saying 'iPad pro' can replace your laptop.
Please review LACAllen's post which I quoted in the post just above yours.
But what they are not saying is that it supports a mouse.

Have you noticed that no Apple computers come with a mouse anymore? And haven't for several years?

For some people, it is proving to be a replacement for their laptop, depending on needs and type of usage. And that has nothing to do with the presence nor absence of mouse support. Many people happily use the iPad Pro as designed and currently sold yet do indeed claim it has replaced, or largely replaced their need for a laptop.
Many people use other touch screen devices without mouse support for their computing needs. While I understand some people may wish for or prefer a conventional mouse, others get along just fine without it. If you need or want a conventional mouse, then an iPad is not the device for you.
But having or not having support for a conventional mouse has nothing inherently to do with whether a particular computing device may or may not replace desktop or laptop functionality for any given user.

And yet... you are back.
To be accurate, they use the phrase computer. Not laptop. Several times actually.
Not once have they said replace.
Again, Apple is attempting to move "computing" forward. To a time without mice. On account of the pencil and the touchscreen and the other input technologies that have surpassed the mouse.
Again, not replaced.
What is your end game?
No soft spot for 8" floppies? Firewire? Dial-up internet?
ksuuttywxw, like you I see Apple as marketing the iPad Pro as a PC replacement (well documented in Phil Schiller's 50 Million old pc's to replace comment in last fall's keynote).
I like to think of Steve Jobs' comment that there are cars and trucks and they have different purposes. Steve conveniently forgot the SUV category which combines cars and trucks so nicely that you can now buy SUVs in every size imaginable. People like flexibility and UTILITY. That's why they sell so very well (gas prices notwithstanding). Try and imagine a car company that doesn't sell an SUV. Would the biggest car company try and compete without it? I think not.
So I would posit that the pc market has it right with 2in1's or detachables (the SUV of computing devices). Apple continues to fiddle while Rome burns on this issue. While I would agree that the iPad is meant to be a device that transcends the PC, I would simultaneously argue that to be transcendent, you need to not just equal the capability of the existing device (PC), but transcend it. And Apple with iPad is almost there too. If you had a file system, ability to save several docs at the same time, and use a pointing device (I prefer trackpads, and yes there is a very limited one built into the iPad keyboard which can't interact with a spreadsheet), then and only then would have a truly transcendent device (and these key features are operating system issues, the apps exist but are very weak implementations).
It's so easy to implement both, that it just makes sense to do it already. Minor enhancements can make all the difference. And this is no concession. This is where we are heading. SUVs are the 2in1's .. even Steve would have been forced to agree eventually. Meanwhile where is the innovation? A watch? A keyboard that gets power from the ipad. That's about it really. I know because I buy a ton of Apple gear because it works elegantly and reliably. Why does my favorite tech manufacturer have to miss out on the logical evolution of the personal computer? Man, if this is just fear of cannibalizing already shrinking macbook sales, then God do we have a problem. Welcome to the future. Steve Jobs, we barely knew ye.
Note... bought an HP Spectre x2 12T CTO. Amazing 2in1, and the trackpad and touchscreen are just about up to the level of the iPad. Yes, they've been given enough time to do it. I'm keeping the iPad Pro for now (bought the best and all accessories), but I actually think my conscience is saying get rid of it while it still has value. Costs much less than the iPad Pro and bests it in almost every category (not speakers, not battery (but close).
That's incorrect though? You could buy a new iMac and it comes packed in with a Magic Mouse 2.
I disagree with the 2in1 assessment. IMO, they make for the worst of both worlds. I have a Lenovo Yoga 900 and it's a less than ideal laptop and a horrible tablet.
I just had a comment removed because it truly was "speculative". My apologies. It was meant in jest, but it offended the sensibilities of some Apple followers. This is forbidden in Apple Support Communities. I suppose this apology may be removed as well, but I'll give it a try. I'm in favor of Apple staying great, thats all. That being said, I hope you caught it for the 60 seconds it was there.

Posts are not removed because the "offended the sensibilities of some Apple followers". They are removed by the Hosts (paid Apple employees) because they violate Apple's Terms of Use, to which you agreed when you signed up. So, your apology is just a tad disingenuous.
