Which will not work with Apple apps. See this from their FAQ list: Apple does not provide native mouse support for iOS. The Citrix X1 Mouse communicates directly with Citrix Receiver as opposed to communicating with iOS. Citrix X1 Mouse and Citrix Receiver utilize Apple’s publically supported APIs to establish the Bluetooth communication (BLE) between the X1 Mouse and Citrix Receiver. The mouse functionality is only available on XenApp and XenDesktop hosted apps and desktops and Citrix ShareConnect, ShareConnect and GoToMyPC mobile apps, the mouse will not function for other iOS apps. The mouse can also be used on a non-iOS device, in which case the X1 Mouse behaves just like a standard Bluetooth 4.0 mouse.
Csound,
lol I agree...The trend for people that work outside is a small pad like an ipad mini that you carry on your body which agreed it would not work well with a mouse...but also a full-size iPad that you use in your vehicle which would absolutely be great with a mouse. I will stick to my line of business I am a service provider ...generic name for phone guy lol... which we haven't provided in vast quantities in 20 years hence the name service provider we do video high-speed Internet and the occasional phone line and I will have a tablet from my truck and a large smart phone or a mini tablet to take in the house with me or on the job site ... and this is a large market

This has become exhausting. This quote is like saying I want to get out of my car and manually open my garage in order to avoid the complexity of using the remote. No one seems to care to read anything that anyone else has said, and continually comments that they want to use a mouse too, with no reasoning behind it.
I am struck by people who having bought something that does not fit their needs choose to go to a forum where nobody can change their choice of purchase to complain about their decision.
Don't get me wrong, I am not implying anyone in this thread falls into this category, but in some other topics in this community people have been caught that never actually owned the device yet were complaining about it and threatening to switch to another device.
Some people complain for a legitimate grips, some just to hear themselves speak. Someone wants to use a mouse, that's fine. But to argue their opinion in the forum makes no sense to me and it doesn't make the specific facts that you can not use a mouse with iOS any more or less valid.
But whatever.
Mladd,
I understand. To clarify, the trend is a small tablet to carry with you. Police and Service providers have a dock for their laptops right next to them. I use mine everyday to do all sorts of things. The reason I am posting so much is that these field jobs are migrating to tablets rather than the dock/laptop scenerio...

I also doubt very much Apple cannot find a way to add pointer capabilities seamlessly without interefering with touch, which seems to be a concern for the naysayers.
This has become exhausting.
Indeed. I have generally kept out this thread since I answered it back in 2015. But sometimes I just feel compelled to come back. And then I wonder why I came back.
Nothing I say seems to get through. Nothing seems to make the least bit of difference. People repeat the same things, we come back and repeat the same counter points, and keep pointing out the state of the tablet market and yet it does not matter.
People want a mouse and don't care what reasonable points any one makes as to why there isn't one.
So exhausting indeed.
And for everybody else, no one has ever said Apple cannot incorporate mouse or that they are fundamentally unable to do it. But rather that they have clearly chosen not to, and the reasons why they have chosen not to.
Phil,
Apolgies that this has exhausted you. And also that I posted on a 2 year old thread. And I broke some rules apparently? lol. The market has evolved since 2015, my dock and laptop in my truck is being replaced by a tablet, and smartphone to carry inside a house or in the field outside. I will share those concerns with Apple directly. I will unfollow. Thanks!
Johhny.
Dear God, this thread has gotten out of hand. Seriously. Bottom line is there are a lot of features on the iPad that I love and use. There are more features that I don't use at all. Arguing that "their will never be mouse support on the iPad because there never had been before" is plain shortsighted at best. No tech company that has been around for decades would have survived if it didn't add features people wanted. There are a few of us that think mouse support would be fantastic. Those of you who don't think so, don't have to use it. Period. It's no different than choosing to use bluetooth, wifi, cell, a keyboard, gestures, split-screen, iCloud, any of the included apple apps or any apps from the store, or not.
Either contribute positively to the discussion or go find someplace else to be, you. Where are the forum moderators?
I can't think of a single device that fits all the needs of their users. There's always something they wish it did differently, or better.
For me, the iPad Pro 12.9 w/pencil fits most (95%) all of my needs I looked for in a tablet. Mouse support would definitely be welcome for a few of my work duties. Still, it's a fantastic device, well worth it...even without mouse support.
I've seen mouse support on older iPads. So, it can be done. So, "fact" is a little overkill.
Perhaps you can enlighten us, as no iPad ever has had mouse support, tell us which one of none you saw.
Or are you just making stuff up?
"Apple must have either removed it or it became obsolete with OS updates."
That should give you a hint as to what Apple's position is on the issue of using a mouse on an iPad, I should think if as you claim there ever was such an app.
YES! if that happens my ipad pro would definitively displace my laptop
unfortunately whenever I need to copy texts from one document to another or I need to prepare a long report before I print it (change some fonts, add some photos and then crop them; basically add some final touchs), I have to save everything from my ipad in the cloud, turn on the computer (wherever it is, which I don´t usually care) and work there. Even though I would much ratter do it in my ipad if I could. 😟

They don't use that "exact" phrase. Nor do they ever imply mouse support.
Big difference between hyperbole & marketing lingo and technical specs
Well, I'd agree that it is both super and a computer. But, unlike the poster to whom I responded, I don't equate that to "Super computer". A Cray it ain't.
I wonder if they also expect M&Ms candies to talk? 😉
Its good that people are passionate about things, but on the Apple forum it seems that any comment that is negative is quite often met with a response from others that is like there has been a personal attack them.
I believe there is a distinct difference between passionate and futile. It's an attack on the sole purpose of this community to rant and rail against the reality of things. This place is for asking answerable technical questions.
Look around. There are many negative things said here daily. They don't get removed because they fit within the guidelines. Negativity is not what gets removed.
iOS has no mouse support. iPads run iOS. Accept that and move on.
To be clear... Apple will not answer questions here about decisions they have made or may make. To ask is against the TOU. That's what can get your contribution(s) removed. That they are well intentioned means nothing.
So every question or statement, passionate or rant-y, about iOS & mouse support will go unanswered. Unresolved.
The *only* place to offer your perspective that has a chance of being considered is >>> http://www.apple.com/feedback/
It's very awkward to reach out and touch the screen when using a keyboard...unnatural even. It disrupts creativity.
This is the the first, and probably last time, anyone has ever said these words in regards to a tablet.
At this time there is no mouse support for iPads and there has never been any mention from Apple regarding this. Any discussion beyond this is just being argumentative.
