Which will not work with Apple apps. See this from their FAQ list: Apple does not provide native mouse support for iOS. The Citrix X1 Mouse communicates directly with Citrix Receiver as opposed to communicating with iOS. Citrix X1 Mouse and Citrix Receiver utilize Apple’s publically supported APIs to establish the Bluetooth communication (BLE) between the X1 Mouse and Citrix Receiver. The mouse functionality is only available on XenApp and XenDesktop hosted apps and desktops and Citrix ShareConnect, ShareConnect and GoToMyPC mobile apps, the mouse will not function for other iOS apps. The mouse can also be used on a non-iOS device, in which case the X1 Mouse behaves just like a standard Bluetooth 4.0 mouse.

There are mice for a remote app. See earlier in discussion.

fyi.

Read Multiform post. You can use a mouse with remote Windows and vnc desktop apps on the ipad. You need the right app store app.

Read his article here:

It's on page 2 of this discussion about half way down.

I did not read all the replies, so maybe this was already mentioned. Adding mouse support would not be that difficult for apple to to implement, nor would it be difficult for apple to implement a way to access the file system, like android. I mean, most apps are developed on a desktop and then ran in an emulator without touch support. I believe the main reason we won't see these features is because a lot of people would dump their macbooks and apple doesn't want to compete against itself. So they purposely leave a "gap" in the design.

Native mouse and trackpad support hasn't happened for 10 generations of iOS.

I don't expect this to change any time soon.

I wish this thread would die, already!

Apple does what is does for reasons only Apple knows.

Apple doesn't have OS X touch screen computers or have support for cursor input devices on their iDevices.

No one knows if and when this will change or not.

You do realise that there has been a two finger trackpad feature, that is part of the iOS bulit-in onscreen keyboard, that has been available since iOS 9.

Works pretty darn well with any type of text document.

You do realize that the lack of access to a central file system was a very deliberate and conscious design decision in iOS going all the way back to Apple iPhone OS 1 (the original iPhone operating system name)? It is central to the iOS security model and sandbox concept of isolating an app's access to files, other apps and system services.

So yes, Apple could easily grant access to a centralized file system. They have very deliberately chosen not to in the interest of producing the most secure mobile device operating system currently available.

Apple is not about to throw away the entire central security feature of iOS and open it up to all the same vulnerabilities that Android is open to.

Hey, I do like Apple's products... but they are a company who I DO believe wants to keep making good products, while making a LOT of money in the process. I can see your point about the iOS security but then at the same time, if so worried about security, why not implement that same security across all platforms? Maybe I'm missing something? Again, I like their products but it doesn't change the fact if they made the "perfect" mobile computing device, their revenue would drop. Instead, they give you a phone that's capable of being a personal computer but dang it, if the screen can be annoyingly small for some tasks. So, they give us the iPad. Solves the screen size issue but leaves the phone part out of the equation (not suggesting holding an iPad to your head but a Bluetooth headset would work) ... And then people really started using their iPads for their new laptop. But for some, man sure would be nice to have that mouse support for finer movements that are difficult with a touch screen or even a touch pad. Guess that means ya gotta get an actual PC. And that's where Apple's great integration between all it's products comes in. It's pretty seamless, so why would you want to go out of their environment (products)?... Other than cost of their devices but that's a different discussion.

I haven't used a mouse for 10 years. I find touchpads much easier and less stressful on my hands which are prone to repetitive stress symptoms. I find it better for fine movements than a mouse. And for really fine control I use a stylus on an iPad. Back in the 1980's Apple conducted focus groups on human interaction for the original Mac. The mouse, originally developed by Xerox research, was shown to potential users, who thought it was a stupid idea that would never catch on. Appreciate the irony.

There is never going to be one product that meets everyone's needs all the time. Any attempt to make such a device would be foolish and doomed to failure.

Been using iPads as laptop replacements since the first, 2010 iPad.

My large iPad Pro, for me, (maybe NOT for you) has been THE BEST laptop replacement and creative, digital drawing pad, to date!

I do use a third party stylus with my iPad Pro, though.

I am comfortable with the nearly 13 inch size screen, but would like to see Apple build a 15" inch screen iPad Pro.

I'd purchase a 15" screen iPad Pro, no problem! (well, some problem...it won't be cheap!)
