ApplePay says paid but retailer says it's not

I Have been using ApplePay frequently without a problem.

At a retailer that I have used before I again used it but the retailer says it hasn't gone through properly. The card in 'wallet' app shows the payment as successful. My bank says the can't check for a minimum of 24 hours if payment is going through so I have a problem now with the shop!

Who do I believe, ApplePay or the store?

Receipt from store says void so if I keep that then I have some comeback if paid twice I guess.

Processed transactions will be confirmed in due course via your bank / card statement. In the meantime, keep hold of your void receipt.

The feedback form enables you to report issues with specific merchants, transactions and payment cards, so can be helpful in enabling Apple to identity and investigate.

In my case it was the local McDonalds. My iPhone said that the payment had been made successfully but the girl on the till didn't see the transaction. I then made a successful contactless transaction using the same Amex card as my Apple Pay was set up to use.


I am waiting to check my online card account records to see whether I have paid twice.
