How do I remove a null app?

I installed the Plex app, then deleted it as I was troubleshooting something within that app. However the app never deleted. I noticed a white app icon at the bottom of my home screen and then I tried to delete it, ti said it was a "null" app but then the deletion process didn't do anything. I restarted my Apple TV and the "null" app is still there and no apparent way for me to delete it. I've tried to go back and install the Plex app from the App Store and it shows as already installed. No Plex app appears on my home screen, just this white icon "null" app.

Same problem. (null) app in list that can't be deleted, by either means of trying to delete it. Rebooting doesn't fix it either. Only option appears to be a full factory reset, which is completely unacceptable because many of my apps have perishable app state that would be completely lost. (Read: consumable in-app purchases and other acquired in-game currency that cannot be stored or transferred.) Apple must fix this.
