Slow ethernet on apple tv 4

Every other device uses 10/100/1000 for 10 years and all my entertainment center devices are networked with ethernet. Sure a 4 cyl car gets you around, but not what I'm expecting from Apple!

Great to know this thread is a year old... anyway, I Just bought the ATV 4 two weeks ago. I assumed it was a step up from the 3. Never occurred to me that it in 2016 anyone would still be using 10/100 architecture. Guess I should be greatful it isn't a SCSI device!!

The reason for slow download speed with ethernet cable is not that the port is 10/100!!

I have the same issue and sometimes my download speed is as low as 3Mbps with Ookla Speedtest on Apple TV gen 4.

But it is always approx 15Mbps slower than with my PC, iPhone or Mac with ookla's test.

I can say this because there is nothing wrong with upload speed. It's always the same as with other hardware I mentioned.

I have the EXACT same setup with you and I am getting the EXACT same results. The only thing I can think of is that the ethernet port is a 100mbit/s port and the WiFi is more modern. SO crazy... I have decided to keep my apple TV wired as 90mbit/s is plenty and it keeps one more node off my WiFi.

Hi. Its a hardware limitation. The apple tv 4 gen has a only 10/100mbps connectivity. On the Ethernet port.

So basically if you have a internet over a 100mbps. And a really good router. Use it instead the cable.

HI all, I am having the same issue. Get around 100 mbps on ethernet on the Mac but only about 70mbps on the Apple TV.

Has anyone got a solution contacted Apple?

4k only needs 14-34 Mbits.

Thanks for the tip. I have FIOS 150/150 and was only getting 90Mbps through ethernet. Now getting full 150Mbps on Wi-Fi connection. Who would have thought?!?
