Apple TV 4 photo issues

I am on my second day with the new Apple TV 4. I am not happy with it.

I use my Apple TV a lot to have music on while displaying my pictures when I have people over. I was hoping that with this new generation Apple would have fixed the issue where pictures repeat themselves way too often and not all pictures in my library are shown. Instead, it's worse. I have home sharing on, and I have about 1100 photos shared. On my ATV I choose the shared images folder to be my screen saver. However, after about 40 images or so, they start all over again and display in the same order again. This is very annoying.

So I tried going to the shared folder and pressing "Start Slideshow", instead. What happens with that is that 7 images are shown and then it goes back to the first image and that image stays on the screen until I press something. I tried it at least 10 times with the same results each time. The pictures were different each time, but the behavior was the same: after 7 pictures it shows the first picture and leaves it on the screen.

Is anybody else experiencing this? Is there a way to get the ATV to randomly show ALL my pictures as a screen saver instead of cycling through 40-50 images and then repeating them in the same sequence again?

i'm not "overreacting" i'm having a discussion.

Then we disagree, I believe stooping to swearing and exaggerating are over-reaction when we are talking about a screen saver.

I saw your post before it was removed. It did not offend and I didn't report it. I do understand that you liked the way the Apple TV 1 worked, however you don't seem to understand what it is that I'm saying, which is that: the way it works on the Apple TV 4 it isn't a bug, it's a poor feature. By all means leave feedback about how it can be improved, I appreciate this might be disappointing, but it doesn't warrant some of the rants that have appeared here.

That's exactly what I'm expecting!

With the Apple TV 3 there was the workaround to start a shuffling slideshow - but unfortunately the slideshow feature is still completely broken on the Apple TV 4.

Screensaver slideshow on Apple TV 4 is such a disappointment. I have the same issues as everyone here. All i wanted was to have ALL of my photos streaming on my TV. This is something Apple did not do with the new Apple TV. My older Apple TV would stream more photos than the new Apple TV.

I am really disappointed with Apple TV 4 and I wish I had not bought this product.

tvOS 9.2 same issues. When will apple fix this? slide show is one of the primary reasons I have multiple apple tvs throughout my house. I would like to remain in the apple eco system and be able to get my photos out of the computer and up on the big screen.

Hmmm.... I had this discussion thread removed by Apple because of Rants and complain ? I don't see either of this in this post ?

"I just want to vent my frustration with Apple software across the board recently, OSX, OS, ATV4 .... so many glitches, problems .... I used to boast 'Apple just do it' I feel like Ive gone back in time with Windows having to do work arounds, short cuts, updates to get where I want and do .....

The pulled your comments? why? If they don't want the hear that the Apple TV is broken then they should fix it. This issue has been corrected on Apple TV 3 so its clearly not a memory issue its a software issue. Lets hope for TVos 9.2.x soon before I too have to buy another product to do what the Apple tv was supposed to do.

Very big mistake in ATV4! It turns out that the picture slideshow function is much better in ATV3!?

But ATV4 has other functions that make it worth to buy.

Hopefully Apple upgrades the Picture Slideshow functions to ATV4! Bring back the "Picture Frame" slide show!

and i'll be on call with apple support again tomorrow for yet another issue with my desktop mac... i'm having LOTS of issues with all my mac devices... and i have **** near all of them.

Another Apple customer who expressly bought ATV because I thought the photos display function would work seamlessly. Otherwise I would have spent less money and punched a fully functional TV product that streamed Amazon, etc. I am concerned that a once top echelon provider of quality products has become lethargic about responding to basic lack of advertised functionality issues.

Any timeframe on a fix from the Apple community?

Just upgraded my ATV4 to OS 9.2. I really hoped the slideshow would finally be fixed. NOT! My 5s slideshow from my computer plays exactly 7 photos and then stops every time. Allowing shuffling still only plays 7 photos. If I set it at 3s (no-repeat), it seems to continue playing, but it does so with repeats.

I've had ATV since it first came out. Since this was happening with my ATV3, I hoped that ATV4 would fix it. I'm seriously considering taking this one back.
