Apple TV 4 photo issues

I am on my second day with the new Apple TV 4. I am not happy with it.

I use my Apple TV a lot to have music on while displaying my pictures when I have people over. I was hoping that with this new generation Apple would have fixed the issue where pictures repeat themselves way too often and not all pictures in my library are shown. Instead, it's worse. I have home sharing on, and I have about 1100 photos shared. On my ATV I choose the shared images folder to be my screen saver. However, after about 40 images or so, they start all over again and display in the same order again. This is very annoying.

So I tried going to the shared folder and pressing "Start Slideshow", instead. What happens with that is that 7 images are shown and then it goes back to the first image and that image stays on the screen until I press something. I tried it at least 10 times with the same results each time. The pictures were different each time, but the behavior was the same: after 7 pictures it shows the first picture and leaves it on the screen.

Is anybody else experiencing this? Is there a way to get the ATV to randomly show ALL my pictures as a screen saver instead of cycling through 40-50 images and then repeating them in the same sequence again?

You can use iCloud photos, but you will see the same 40-100 photos on loop. This is the problem we would like to be solved. This was not the case on the ATV3. I wish they would give you the option to download the photos locally to the ATV4.

That's not correct, you were also limited to a restricted set of photos on the Apple TV 3 for the screensaver.

I Still have my atv3 on another tv. I never see duplicates. iCloud library around 2500 photos. How do explain that? I see the same 40-100 photos on atv4.

I have 3 Apple TV's at home and a further 2 in my offices, not only do I see duplicates after about 10 minutes when I use a 20,000 + library, but I've seen this very matter discussed hundreds of times here in these communities over the many years I've been involved here. The Apple TV 2 does exactly the same, I also have two of those and see the very same thing.

How do I explain it, I suspect you haven't tested your answer thoroughly.

Experiencing the same thing. Apple TV 4 with a shared photo library of several hundred photos. Apple TV only actually shows around 40-50 of them.

ive tried signing out of iCloud and signing back in, turning off and on the photo sharing options, resetting the Apple TV to factory settings, and selecting different photo libraries.

Nothing fixes it. Please fix, Apple!!

Why oh why is Apple having such a hard time figuring out how to do randomization? C'mon Tim Cook. Steve would have chewed someone a new one by now.

It's been mentioned several times in this thread, there is no issue, it's working as designed, if you'd rather it worked a different way provide feedback.

So what's the point in a screen saver being able to use up all your disk space at the expense of more useful usage when as you acknowledge you can accomplish what you want with slideshows.

Yes, if you start a slideshow from a shared album then it will display all photos within that album. You can also set it to repeat.
