Call Failed Message

My iPhone 6 (IOS 9.1) is connected to the same wifi network and iCloud account as my MBP 15" retina (10.11.1)

The setup on both the MBP and iPhone is correct as I am able to dial out and receive calls sometimes

It is not a wifi issue, as I have this intermittent problem at home and work (different network)

Often, I get a called failed when trying to dial out and the MBP won't recognise an incoming call

This is usually fixed by turning FaceTime off on my iPhone, then turning it back on again (activating)

Dial out then usually works for 3 or 4 calls, then back to call failed

I don't really want to delete and recreate my user account as I would be certain to have problems restoring all my mailboxes in Apple Mail

Any ideas?

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Greetings Southern Group,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are having a difficult time with making and receiving phone calls from your Mac using Continuity. It does sound like you are familiar with the set up process and how this feature should work, but haven’t had any luck troubleshooting thus far.

To continue the troubleshooting process, I suggest reading over the Phone Calls section in the following article. Make sure that Wi-Fi Calling is off on your iPhone as step 5 suggests as well.

Have a great day!
