Java error message after El Capitan upgrade

Upgraded to El Capitan, but since doing so, I keep getting this Java error message: "To use the 'java' command-line tool you need to install JDK"

I clicked on more info which takes me to the oracle site to a link for update that I've already done but still keep getting this error message. How do I get rid of this?

Thanks.

I too just upgraded to El Capitan and, when I try to open CS5, get the message "To open "Adobe Photoshop CS%" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime. Click "More Info..." to visit the legacy Java SE 6 download website".

When I click the button for "Download" there is a several-second pause then the message "An error occurred while processing your request. Reference #97.4d04503f.1447479404.3cf7615". I tried this three times with the same result.

I then used the link to download the app directly from Oracle, then used their feature to confirm it was installed. Even now when I try to open CS5 I'm back to the original ""To open "Adobe Photoshop CS%" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime...."

Thanks,

Yes, I did use the link you posted (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US).

I just tried it again in hopes there was a magic self-correct during the night, but I got another, "An error occurred...."

At the bottom of the link you posted is "Older versions may be found at: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1829", I clicked on that and it led to "Java for OS X 2014-001"; I tried to download that version but again got, "An error occurred....".

I searched my hard drive for "Java for OS X", but all I got was a 2012 article about the Flashback trojan; the same if I drop the "X"

"Searching for "JavaScript script" I get:

• one instance of ConnectInstancesToESTK.js from 12/17/13

• two instances of Delivery_Notification_000438486.doc.js from 12/16/14

• four instances of Delivery_Notification_000351789.doc 2.js from 12/19/14

Thanks again for your help,

Phill
