Apple TV keeps turning itself on after being put to sleep

So far my Apple TV has worked great. However, last night everytime I put it to sleep it would wake back up, by itself, after about 5min. The only fix I could find was to unplug the unit itself. Is this some type of software bug? Has anyone else had this issue?

Tech info: new Apple TV with the he Siri remote (4th gen I think)

TV is a Samsung flat screen (not sure the exact model #)

hooked up via hdmi and set to automatically turn on the tv.

It’s because your remote also controls the TV allows your Apple TV to control the TV set via the HDMI.

Go into settings for the remote and disable the ability to turn the TV on.

Then sleep the Apple TV (long hold the TV button).

I'm having the same problem. It's really annoying and I don't like the idea of my TV turning itself on while I'm not even home.

A Long time ago I split my wifi into two access points, one is my main, and the other is for guests, both are password protected.

To solve this Apple TV issue I ended up unplugging the power directly from the Apple TV unit itself for about one minute, then plugged it back in.

I then switched the network from the guest access point to my main access point. That has fixed the issue for me. Since doing this I have not had anymore issues.

Mine starts to do the same thing. It is annoying and It is definitely a software issue. It doesn't have to do with the controller, because every time that it woke up, the controller is not connected. This is very annoying and worst if you use the device in your bedroom. This is definitely undesired and the worst thing is that now It does turn the TV on. Come on Apple!!! Nothing shall turn on the Apple TV except for the remote controller.

I have two Macbook Pros (2014 & 2017 models), both running Sierra 10.12.x. I haven't been able to link it to the use of the Macs.

Just bought Apple TV 4 (2015) and it turns on and off at various intervals.

I take this is likely a software bug that was fixed and subsequently come back in the latest tvOS update?

I Have the same issue, it randomly goes on at any point in time, mine is an apple tv3

It is 2017, April 7th, and this is still happening. Apple is not what it used to be.

No buggy software, it's more likely to be something interfering with it on your network, but could be a couple of things.

You can be as facetious as you like but other people aren't having this issue and since we have the same Apple TV and the same software the only difference in our set up is the model of TV.
