Aerial Screensaver is repeating video

I'm having the same problem with a 4th generation 32 GB Apple TV running tvOS 10.1 with Ariel screensaver Download New Videos set to Daily. I have plenty of available storage, and yet none of the screensavers released in December 2016 have appeared yet.

I have mine set to "daily" and I see the same few videos every day. It never updates. I have submitted feedback to Apple and even talked to a tech support person who had me reset the system but that didn't help. I truly don't understand why they can't make this feature work correctly.

Every time I have a problem with an apple product I find forums like this with others who feel my pain. But there's never a solution.

This makes me wonder, how is this meant to work, anyway? Is Apple 'pushing' certain videos to all users each day, or is the Apple TV supposed to randomly pull from ALL available videos (either daily/weekly/monthly depending on user setting)? I wonder if the reason we're getting Hong Kong and Dubai right now is that's what Apple has chosen to make available at this time. To me it's not very transparent how it actually works - you can't see where the videos are being pulled from, where they're stored or how much space they're taking up or anything like that.

Sorry, what does this mean? Just that it would take time to get all of them? There is an option to "download new video DAILY" so presumably someone would only need to have it a week or two to see many of the aerial screensavers, if it worked the way it's supposed to. If it's actually only capable of getting new ones every month or so, then why even have the "daily" option?

Yes, that is my educated quess from my experience. I think the different download rates are for people that want to use the little bit extra memory on other things, so they only have to get a couple a month not every week.

OK, but if you are right and it's really only possible to get new videos AT MOST every week, then why do they have the option for daily? If they have an option for daily, it should update daily if that's what someone selects. Some users don't have a ton of apps and aren't using a lot of available memory on anything else so if there's space available and they've selected the daily update option for the screensaver, it should work! (Sorry, not directing any annoyance at you, just at Apple. 🙂)

I've had it for several weeks and I've only seen maybe 4 or 5 of the aerial screensavers the whole time. Definitely not a new one each day. If you read through the thread you'll see this is what many others have been saying. It plays Hong Kong and Dubai at night, Greenland and LA freeways during the day. I briefly saw Hollywood at night, but that's it. Not even close to downloading new ones "daily."

I think you will need to reset the Apple TV for it refresh the video list. I did this a few days ago as mentioned in the other thread, and it is now working fine for me. New videos each day so far. The drawback is that I had to redownload all my apps, rearrange them, and sign back in to services like Netflix etc. Took me an hour or so to get everything back the way I wanted it.

Just wanted to add that I am also experiencing this problem. I am not restoring my whole Apple TV (which for SOME REASON cannot be backed up to iCloud) just to cure this simple problem.

Please Apple, fix this!

I had one new video today, six days after the last change, even though I've selected for daily updates. Still at least I got a little variety even if the other four videos that are cycling today are ones I've already seen. 😕

I’m having the same problem. I’ve tried resetting multiple times. Nothing works, no matter what configuration I choose. I’ve given up. My previous generation ATV handled these screensavers fine, though i did have to reset it once to get it working.

I did a reset for another issue 3 weeks ago and it did nothing to change the randomness of the videos. I would try it again but I don't have 3-4 hours to waste entering all the app passwords again. I don't understand why Apple doesn't just put in a setting that lets you choose which videos to use (or to stop using). There are over 50 now and I have watched them on the website. A lot of really great ones. I don't need to see LAX or interstate interchanges again.

From my understanding it's random updates that Apple will pull and tvOS picks at random what video it displays.

That's happening to me too, every time that the aerial screensaver starts cycles one or two videos only. Next time will cycle one or two but could be different ones. I couldn't find any settings to fix it. Any hint would be appreciated.
