Why does Mac Pages dictionary look up doesn't work?

Hi Folks,

I'm running Pages 5.6 (2553). I used to be able to just right click on a word, select define and it would list the definition in dictionary and thesaurus. Now, it only responses from wikipedia and News. Why is this happening? I tried to figure out a setting, but no luck. Could anyone help? This wasn't happening in the last update.

Thank you,

Hebert

Hi Robert,

To my recollection, I've not downloaded any dictionaries or thesauri. These are the results I get from right-clicking (control-clicking) 'thesaurus' in a Pages 5.6.2 document:

Scrolling down gives further options of Spanish, Spanish-English, and Portuguese, and a link to Open in Dictionary.

Results are the same when 'thesaurus' is included in a bulleted list.

Regards,

Barry

There is a known bug when attempting to lookup a word from within a list in Pages v5.6. The lookup in dictionary from the right-click still works with Pages v5.6 on my El Capitan 10.11.1 implementation — when outside of a list. How you have your dictionary items ordered in your Dictionary App Preferences, may have a bearing on what you see on a lookup.
