9.1 Problems? Can't use music? Can't download/update apps? GameCenter broken? Look here

I originally posted in Apple Music's support section because that was my main gripe. However, due to a relatively small number of replies and views I will move it here (it's more of a 'general' problem anyways).

~~~MY ORIGINAL POST (slightly edited)~~~~
128GB iPhone 6 running iOS 9.1
I am currently at the apple store with a Genius Bar employee.
Problems: Since updating to 9.1 I can't update/download any apps, apple music no longer works at all or allows me to view my Apple ID from the options in the app, GameCenter and any apps that require it (such as Clash of Clans or Boom Beach) no longer work, they freeze upon opening and crash, can't open email links, intermittent issues with cellular data, Touch ID will not work, screens overlap, the list goes on...
TRIED: soft reset, hard reset, restore (through phone settings and iTunes), restore from iCloud, setup as new, heres the big one - REPLACED THE PHONE at apple's genius bar with another 9.1 iPhone 6.
Called Express Lane and have a very confused senior tech support guy on the phone who has no clue what is happening.
((my apple id was checked and is fully functional, no pending transactions or otherwise))
all attempts to fix, including replacing the phone, have failed and I'm still having issues. Now, I'm upgrading my new phone to iOS 9.2 beta to see if that helps, I'll report back, but, is anyone else having this issue? Have you managed to fix it?
My case was then escalated to Apple Engineering (this was Friday 11/6). Over the weekend I began looking through the forums and found several other threads that were having the same/similar issues and hadn't found a fix. I still haven't heard back from Apple Engineering, but I have found a WORKAROUND for the issue with a bit of help from a particular member of these forums.
Okay, so here's what I've done:
Restored phone, setup as new, did not log in to iCloud, I DID LOG IN TO iTUNES & APP STORE. All problems are present.
Then:
1: Restore, setup as new, DO NOT LOG INTO ANYTHING
2: Go to Settings>iCloud>Login
3: Add my gmail account
4: Attempt to open email link; WORKS
5: Open Game Center; WORKS
6: Open Music>Account>Login
7: MUSIC NOW WORKS
8: Go to Settings>App & iTunes store> for some reason after loading the page my iTunes account is already logged in, even though I never did it. Maybe when I logged into the Music app it also logged me into the App & iTunes store?
9: Everything's broken again except for Music still works for some reason
Then #2:
1. Restore, setup as new, click "use different accounts for iCloud and iTunes
2. Use my account for iCloud and wife's for App & iTunes store
3. Open Game Center; WORKS
4. Login to Gmail account, attempt to open link; WORKS
5. Open Apple Music; WORKS (but it is my wife's information/likes/dislikes/playlists/etc)
6. Open App Store, download app (clash of clans in this case); WORKS
7. open clash of clans; WORKS
8. setup Touch ID; WORKS
Everything works fine on my phone now using my wife's info for the App & iTunes store. If I log into it myself then all my problems immediately come back.
Hope this helps someone else
You have found what we have all come to know. There is a problem with OUR PARTICULAR Apple IDs and iOS 9.1 and the app/iTunes Store. This was never a problem with iOS 9.02. This only affects a very tiny percentage of users. This is why Apple support and store support personnel don't know anything about this and don't know how to approach it. There is no hardware problem. It doesn't matter if you reset your phone as new or get a new phone. As long as you use iOS 9.1 and have one of the problematic Apple IDs there is nothing, repeat NOTHING you can do about it. It will have to be fixed by Apple and they are, at this point, clueless as to how to fix it or, don't really care because it affects so few people. If you can get a new phone with an earlier iOS, do it and DON'T UPGRADE TO 9.1. You can't downgrade to 9.02 because Apple has stopped signing it.
I've got THE fix for this bug. Follow these instructions TO THE LETTER:
1. Sign out of App Store account in Settings.
2. Stand on your left foot with your right eye closed while restarting your iPhone.
3. While saying "Abracadabra" three times go to settings and reset network settings.
4. Sign into App Store account while saying five Hail Mary's.
5. Check to see if you're phone is working normally.
6. Reset your phone five more times.
7. Check your phone again.
8. Pray to the Apple ID gods.
This method is GUARANTEED to work just as well as every other "fix" on here.
Ah I should have given more details. You're right, the phone was practically empty, however, when I said Apple Music was no longer working what I meant was the streaming service, not the app itself. I actually never synced my iTunes library from my mac since restoring the phone to factory.
To explain:
The app (music) will open when I am logged into the 'App & iTunes store" section with my Apple ID, but it doesn't A: Recognize that I have ever purchased music; B: Recognize that I am on a family plan for Apple Music streaming. Interestingly, now that I am logged in using my wife's Apple ID I can go to
iTunes>Purchased>[my name]> "[my name] has no purchases]"
It's as if all my purchased music is now missing, same thing for apps in the Purchased section of the App Store.
Zubcut your thing really did the trick, no idea how you came up with this. I may have been standing on my left foot with my right eye closed, though, hope that doesn't cause any issues with the cache down the line.
in all seriousness though, wdmc you've got way too many steps in your workaround there, just logging out of Apple ID in iTunes and the App Store should do the trick. You may have to reboot, but I didn't have to. I've been BEGGING people on these forums to stop advising people to do wipe-restores - it doesn't fix anything and in my case I lost a boatload of third party app data because my phone was unable to back up/reload the apps properly, the link to the App Store being broken and all. Wiping and restoring is a 100% waste of time.
Nov 9, 2015 9:01 PM in response to walter132
My workaround is literally 2 steps:
1. Restore to factory settings
2. Do not log into the App & iTunes Store (iCloud is fine)
the only reason I listed every step I took to get there was to show how I realized it was logging into the app & iTunes Store that caused the problem.
also, simply logging out of it didn't solve anything, I did have to restore the phone.
((edit: a word))
Same problem... was writing on another thread.
Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1
(Some 24 pages there!)
Done a lot of things, none worked.
Been calling Apple Support in US (I am in India) - they seem to have heard it 'first time' - strange!
They do make you go all the steps of restore, blah blah...else they 'will not work with me' on this... so one is forced to do that (and I nearly lost all my data doing that, coz there was some issue in the backup/PC /itunes...though managed to get it back after 2 days of tension, though not fully as some third party apps data didn't load properly).
I was so relieved to find this post and know I am not the only one having these problems. I too have been trouble shooting on my iPhone 6 with a senior tech specialist to fix all these same issues with apps not downloading, streaming music not working, iCloud not backing up, links not opening in email, not being able to purchase music thru iTunes and to sum it up he has no idea how to fix this problem. He is waiting to hear from whoever else is looking at the issue from our notes during our trouble shooting. It's been 3 weeks:( My old iPhone that I use as an iPod now works perfectly fine but still has iOS 8.4. I am definitely not updating that it's the only device I have besides my laptop that I can listen to Pandora and Apple Music. Other than that I've been stuck listening to YouTube playlist on my phone. i might just go back to my iPhone 5 if techs at Apple can't even figure this issue out.
Good luck.
