Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

I had this same issue when I started using Apple Music when it was first released. At the time I was using a 5s....I do not think it is an Apple Music issue as it was a catastrophic failure of anything related to my Apple ID. I was emailing with an iOS Senior Technical Advisor (Mark Barnes, amazing guy) back and forth for an entire month after requesting apple support to escalate my support ticket. Unfortunately, he was not able to fix it...so for the entire month of August I was SOL. Support had asked me to erase my phone and restore from a back up...but my iCloud backups would not load, which is when I realized that the problem was an Apple ID problem. At the time it seemed like I was the only one having this issue but it seems to be quickly spreading. Me and this tech tried everything under the sun and he was at lost.

Mark was going to escalate the ticket to the engineering team, but my Apple ID just started magically working a day after the Apple Keynote in September. It is now October, I'm using a 6s and the issue has now come back. Its not a device issue, so I wouldn't waste your time going to the apple store to get a new device. Again, I firmly believe it is a Apple ID issue. Time to open a new ticket...

I updated to iOS 9.1 a few days ago and my Music app is also non-functional, but in the most basic way. I literally have nothing...the app only loads the front page of the app (faded concert background, apple logo and "Music"). I get no further than that, period. As i type this i am staring at that stupid screen, going on 5 mins now.

After so many crappy updates that keep disabling the most basic elements of our phones, i think my phone may just need to stay outdated by several releases. And i guess i have to go dig out an iPod from the kids' room...

Okay, had the exact same problem on my iPhone5 after updating to 9.1 over the weekend. When trying to load the Music app to play content stored on the phone, the new Apple Music splash screen just freezes. Looked at some of the comments on this thread and found that this worked for me...

1. Switch your phone off then on again

2. Select Airplane Mode then disable it

3. Access the App Store and try and update one of your apps that needs updating (you should have a few by now)

NOTE: You will be prompted to accept NEW T&C's before this will work. This, I believe, is where the problem lies. The general T&C's should be linked to the Music App but the frozen splash screen is not indicating the need to update and agree to these. After agreeing to the new T&C's in the App store my Music App loaded fine without any issues and I can now access and play my music content again 🙂

Hope this helps the rest of you...

Regards,

Gary

I just saw that too.... Now I even more annoyed...

Lovely people at Apple Music Help on Twitter, who I have been pestering with messages since Saturday morning (They have been absolutely fantastically nice.!) suggested that I post the thread on the main Apple Feedback page, so I did for iPhone and iPad, hopefully we won't be an isolated sad case for too long.

So maybe, all of you with the issue, please do the same here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

From a different thread, here's something to try to see if it helps:

Re: iPhone 6+ | iOS 9.0.1 | icloud music library just won't load - can't sync music from itunes | MUSIC IS COMPLETELY BR…

Briefly, make an encrypted backup to iTunes. Then wipe your phone and set it up as new. Log into iCloud, Apple Music, App Store, iTunes Store, etc. Once you're all logged into those services, play around with them to see if they work or not. Regardless of whether they work or not, proceed to restore from your encrypted backup (DO NOT wipe your phone before this step - you are restoring from your backup ON TOP of the "new" iPhone you just created and logged into).

See what happens and if issues get resolved or not.

We need to be heard! Everybody here who uses Social Networks: Twitter, Facebook, etc... share the link to this thread as much and as often as you can

Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

... It would obviously be more productive than news of the latest celebrity's breakdown!

To quote Howard Beale in Sidney Lumet's movie Network from 1976: "I'M AS MAD AS ****, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

Not sure if this is the same problem, but I'm having an issue with the music app on iOS freezing at the splash screen.

Music app sticks on splash screen.

It started on both my iPhone and iPad 4 days ago. I updated to iOS 9.1 quite a while before, as soon as it was available. Resetting all settings seems to have fixed the problem in my iPad, but not on my iPhone. Apple support suggested doing a full re-install of iOS. I'll try that when I have time.

On my last call to support (Friday, Nov. 6) they suggested I try this same thing and directed me to this support article on how to do it. ----> If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I tried just the Update option so far and that still did not work. I am now going to try the Restore option as you suggest and see if that makes a difference for me. I will report back my results.

Other thread with similar issues here: Re: iOS 9.1 causing app store issues

Now for the people following here, here is my status:

My iPad Mini has been working as normal (meaning prior to 9.1!) since Monday night (2nd November), after not working since Friday 23rd October... Today since 16:00 (UK time), all usual things are dead again: no hyperlinks, no Apps store, no Apple Music... My iPhone 6 literaly died (black screen with the Apple in the middle, heating up furiously) this week on Wednesday 4th November.

THE ONLY WAY is to have replacement for all our devices, and NEVER to update from 9.02. I have another appointment at the Genius bar on Monday morning, I won't leave their shop until they offer me a solution

The iPod Touch I bought after my Genius Bar appointment last Saturday 31st October is working perfectly (running on IOS 9.02) and my Mac Book Pro as well...

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and have just recently upgraded my OS to 9.1. When I restarted my iPhone, I must've done something I wasn't supposed to, but I couldn't access my music. All I got was the pretty screen with "Music" on it.

I went online and found another poster (Krives). His suggestion worked for me!

You can see his post here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7103630?answerId=28513785022#28513785022

In his post, Krives had advised to do the following:

"I was just able to fix it.I had to go to Settings-Music- and turn off Show Apple Music, then I had to go to Settings-iCloud- and turn off iCloud Drive."

He wrote this for his upgrade to OS 8.4, and had added at the end "Then I synced with my Computer and everything came back. I have an iPad 2." You may or may not have to do this, but I didn't and I got my music back.

I discovered that just following his instructions (I set it in bold for your convenience), helped get me my previously loaded music and playlists back!

Good luck!

Hi guys,

My new Apple ID from @icloud.com is working perfectly since last week, when I decided to migrate a new account (here: Re: Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1). Unfortunatelly i know that many of us have a thousand dollars on regular ID, but i still think that issue envolves gmail's ID. My brother and, now, my sister with gmail's IDs have the same issue since Nov 1st.

I would like to say that I feel bad for us, costumers and fans, for this. Apple must to see and hear us.

Until then, i hope that you can fix it. I follow this thread in case the someone discover something relevant to fix all this issues (apple music, emails, icloud library...) (so i can probably fix my old ID).

Regards and sorry for my bad english, i dont speak english. 😐
