Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

3 Days of login in & out, now Apple Music finally re-loaded my Icloud music and playlists, Radio still not loading, and to be honest I subscribed because of Beats 1. Now playing music I already purchased, it plays some tracks, but not all, and when I log back in, it tells me "could not purchase track such and such" or it downloads on my Ipad tracks I only want to listen from the Cloud. Links in emails not working now either. I won't give up! I love Apple products and I love their concept of Apple Music. What is more frustrating is that everything was absolutely perfect at last before IOS 9.1, and I didn't need that update, unless now maybe to show my discontent with the new Middle Finger emoji!

A few months ago I signed up for the free apple music subscription and happily downloaded music, making it available offline. I was playing music yesterday offline fine.

This morning when I went to play my music, none of it was available offline anymore. I noticed that I was no longer subscribed to apple music, think my free trial had run out, so I subscribed this morning and updated to 9.1, but am unable to get my previously downloaded music playlist to be available offline. It has only downloaded about 18 of 50 songs. I find this most upsetting as I need the music for my 4 hour round trip commute to and from work. As I only updated to 9.1 after I encountered this issue I am not sure it is related to the latest release, but perhaps it coincides with the expiration of the free trial?!

If I click on the ... next to an individual song within a playlist, there used to be a make available offline option in there as well, this is no the case though 😟

I will try the reset network settings thingy other people have mentioned above...

Let me rephrase that last one.

Downloading apps and synchronising them to the phone doesn't always work. And the synchronising symbol seems to be stuck on the phone even though the computer's iTunes looks like it is finished. Then later I get a notification at the phone that some music purchase didn't work.

Same issue here. I can't download new apps or update old ones. Apple Music works if I log out and reset my phone, then log back in. Granted, it only works for like 30 minutes before I have to repeat the process.

I wonder how long it'll be before we get an update...

I really just want to throw my iPhone at the wall, but I know that won't solve anything. 😟

still complete disaster on all fronts: Iphone can't log in my Apple Id linked to the store, so no Itunes, no apps, I guess this is what makes Apple Music not working, can't reibstall old apps. Links in emails not redirected to briwser. Ipad, same...

now, at lunch time my main Mac was working fine and suddenly Itunes froze... I had to exit shut the computer, and left.

i have an appointment at an Apple shop on saturday, will bring all 3 machines, and won't leave until I am sure that all 3 are working perfectly.

They better fix tgat mess, all caused by their Ios9.1... Not a hapoy bunny at all.

Yeah, I've been having those problems sometimes too. I've used iTunes on my Mac to force apps to update, but Music still doesn't work for me.

I called AppleCare, and they had me do a restore. The music played, but soon enough after the call, it stopped working consistently again, I couldn't download songs offline, and I eventually couldn't get my iCloud Library to sync after logging out.

It broke for me after 9.1, and since then I've kept searching the internet for an answer. All I find on different forums is the same issues, with no solutions.

I synced my iPhone with my MacBook Pro and it fixed this issue. Hopefully it'll work for you too,

You mean that you simply plugged it in, and pressed sync in iTunes? If so, I've incidentally done this a ton of times, and it hasn't work( though in theory it should).

None of these makes sense to me. Worst part is, I'm not the average consumer Apple tries to make this simple enough for. There lies a big problem.

I wasted the better part of my day on the phone with Apple Support, even speaking with the clearly overworked Sr. Support person, to try and resolve this issue. My iPhone 6s plus was restored to factory settings as a new phone, though nobody suggested going back to the older version of the OS. The issue didn't occur until I updated to the current iOS, 9.1. Now my phone is like a new phone, and somehow my backup on the iCloud and my computer in iTunes got overwritten or erased. And I get to wait until Friday which is the earliest I can get an appt at the Apple Store 40 minutes away, so unless The Apple store hands me a new phone with all my contacts, apps and data installed from a magical backup, and can turn back time so that I can regain my work day (or compensate me for lost income), I'm looking another half day at least of trying to get this fixed. But enough griping, here are the symptoms:

  • No songs that I put into "My Music" appear, and only the 3 playlists I created appear, empty.
  • I can't log into Apple Music if I log out, which I've tried to see if it would make my music appear.
  • A hard reset (pressing the side and home buttons at the same time) will sometimes let me log in and play a song, but nothing appears in my "My Music" sections except for the 3 (now appearing empty) playlists I created. This worked very intermittently(like maybe 3 times) in my own debugging process and with Apple tech support over the phone.
  • Sometimes after a reset Apple Music suggests that I "join" even though I am a subscriber, and even when I am logged into my account.
  • Game Center won't come up, period. Possibly related, but I'm not sure. I questioned whether there's an authentication issue because of the persistent login issues.
  • Two games I recently paid for via the iTunes store won't move past the developer splash screen.
  • My payment method is accurate. I checked and Apple Music works fine on my laptop, with all of my songs and playlists in the "My Music" section, so I don't believe it's an issue with my payment method.

Seems odd to me that these are the first reports of this, as I've been having the issues since Monday night, less than 24 hours since the iOS was updated on my phone, and I put off updating for a few days. Apple Support claims that they have had no calls about this issue but mine.

Is there a way to go back to iOS 9.0, as everything seemed to work fine before this update? Thank you!

I had this same issue when I started using Apple Music when it was first released. At the time I was using a 5s....I do not think it is an Apple Music issue as it was a catastrophic failure of anything related to my Apple ID. I was emailing with an iOS Senior Technical Advisor (Mark Barnes, amazing guy) back and forth for an entire month after requesting apple support to escalate my support ticket. Unfortunately, he was not able to fix it...so for the entire month of August I was SOL. Support had asked me to erase my phone and restore from a back up...but my iCloud backups would not load, which is when I realized that the problem was an Apple ID problem. At the time it seemed like I was the only one having this issue but it seems to be quickly spreading. Me and this tech tried everything under the sun and he was at lost.

Mark was going to escalate the ticket to the engineering team, but my Apple ID just started magically working a day after the Apple Keynote in September. It is now October, I'm using a 6s and the issue has now come back. Its not a device issue, so I wouldn't waste your time going to the apple store to get a new device. Again, I firmly believe it is a Apple ID issue. Time to open a new ticket...

Too funny, they told me the exact same thing when I called them Tuesday night with identical issues. Having all of the issues you listed, as well as an issue with my backup, was told by a technician to wipe and restore from an iCloud backup and the backup came back with half of my data missing, which has never happened before. At this point I can't even turn iCloud backup back on through my phone.

I even tried logging in on a factory reset iPhone 5 I had lying around, all of the same issues. It's the Apple ID. Eagerly waiting for resolution, my phone is more or less a brick without ability to stream Apple Music, play Game Center games and download apps. I can still surf the internet on Safari.....for now.
