Epson Perfection scanner 'not communicating'

Epson Perfection V370 purchased in June '15 was running perfectly (using Image Capture) on my 27" iMac in Mavericks before updating to El Capitan (currently 10.11.2).


Scanner no longer shows as a device in Image Capture (no device connected) and attempts to open Epson Scan from Applications show a 'Cannot communicate with scanner' message.


The scanner shows in System Information USB.


Have downloaded and installed latest drivers (epson16673.dmg) from Epson El Capitan page.


Advice, please,

10.11.2 is not available for public consumption. Sorry, but you'll have to get bugs reported through the proper channels:

This is just a user to user board, and speculation of future products is strictly forbidden.

By the way, Epson has yet to update their scanner drivers for El Capitan that are included in Apple's operating system updates. I would also consult with them.


There are alternative open source drivers that may work better*:
