Why no backup option for Apple TV?
You can backup your iMacs and Macbooks to Time Machine and your iPhones and iPads to iCloud. Why isn't there a backup method for Apple TV?

I noticed after I installed the apps on my Apple TV that they were also installed on my iPhone and iPad. I do remember, somewhere in the settings of my phone, that I set up something to install apps across all my devices when I install them. Apparently, this works for the Apple TV as well or at least I assume that since they're (the Apple TV apps) are on my phone also that they're in the iCloud now too. That, if it's true and all functional, should resolve this issue.
Okay, found it, this is the TRUE SOLVED answer. If you do the below to your phone it will include the Apple TV apps on your phone and consequently into the iCloud.
Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads > Apps
Hi. The iOS versions of the tvOS apps that are installed on your iPhone are not the same as the ones on your Apple TV. And they are not stored in iCloud. The app store remembers the apps that were installed on the phone, but does not store copies of them. The only way to restore apps on Apple TV is to use the TV app store on the device.
I see it now in tvOS App Store and go to purchased.
The real use for this feature is not on a single device, but when you have multiple devices and you want them to all have the same look and feel. I have 4 Apple TV's and am now without cable (using PS Vue). Getting all of the station apps, games, etc. on the Apple TV and organized takes time...too much time really. It would be great to do it once, and then use the backup to make 3 identical backups so every TV experience was the same. Either way, to restore or to duplicate, it would be nice to have this capacity in iTunes or iCloud.
Hi. You probably know that the ability to replicate apps on a new device is not available even on iPhones and iPads, where it has often been sought. So it's unlikely to be introduced for Apple TV. You can, at least, use the Purchased section of the TV app store to install the same apps on the other devices. And tvOS 10 includes the automatic download option, so new installs on other devices are automatically installed. I think that installing an app is more complicated than simply restoring a backup, so it may have to be done in this one at a time fashion.
TVOS 11 has the one home screen feature, which should take care of that
