App Store BTS update?

Today at about 5:00pm EST all Mac users in my Call of Duty 4 clan could no longer open their App Store copy of CoD4. However, all of us have several apps that were purchased via the App Store that won't open and some that will. Console shows the following for CoD4 attempting to launch.

com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.aspyr.callofduty4_mp.88672[570]): Service exited with abnormal code: 3

So at first I assumed a possible BTS update to Gatekeeper. However, I have Gatekeeper disabled. And just in case I did a codesign verification on CoD4. And just to go 1 step further I even forced my own fully functional Mac developer code signature onto the app. However, none of that worked.

Anyone have any ideas as to why certain Mac App Store apps all of the sudden stopped working across several continents all at the same time?

Aspyr can't do anything for this so a ticket to them won't help. It is affecting hundreds of developers and thousands of apps.

Maybe it worked for a game Paul. But this is WAY bigger than a game. Virtually the entire app store has been rendered worthless for many people who purchased software to do you know, work.

Just finished redownloading it from the App store again, and nothing has changed.

Paul, can you explain how to see if the certificate is updated on each app?

i think that happened after apple's security or system update.Apple have to fix this..

Okay, managed to recover the Application Support folder, but cannot find the /private/ folder anywhere.

Using any route...says the folder doesn't exist.

2 minute update...it appeared...wait for next update...

Next update...in the /receipts/ folder, I deleted the cod4 plist and .bom - is that correct?

I don't have files plist and .bom in

/private/var/db/receipts.

If you're talking about Call of Duty from Apsyr you need to find com.aspyr.callofduty.bom and .plist

Yep, found them and erased them...I'll continue with the rest of the reinstall and get back to you all.

It shouldn't be there after you uninstall, hence why you have to copy the folder before. Then you just copy the folder back to there.

answering my own question now:

In Finder, go to 'Applications' and find the Call of Duty 4 icon.

Right click and click on 'Show Package Contents' and you can reload the folder there.
