Since upgrading to OSX EI Capitan Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 will no longer open.
A quick flash on the screen and then error "quit unexpectedly "
Any opinions welcome .

Same problem here.
Check with Adobe to see if Elements 10 is designed to work with El Capitan. It may have needed updating prior to upgrading to El Capitan. If Adobe indicates it will work with El Cap then tell them the issue you are having and ask for their fix.
I'm using Element 12 on El Capitan, so far no problems.
Thanks , I was on to Adobe support [chat] and this is what they told me "I suggest you please upgrade your product, or degrade your operating system" In other words they want more money, more than I paid for there product in 2013 ????. Seems you shouldn't keep your system up to-date .
what types of things do you use Elements for, there may be other alternatives.
repairing old photos, adding text and so on
Have you tried to use Apple's Photo app, it does some pretty okay repairs and you can add text using the Preview App
I have PSE 10 running on El Capitan with no issue at all. However, you will need to install the Apple legacy Java runtime from this link: Download Java for OS X 2015-001.
After you install it reboot and try PSE 10 again.
I deleted the app from my macbook and reinstalled it. It now works
Just tried that now Old Toad and had no joy.
Don't think I can do that, delete I mean as I purchased it from the APP Store in 2013 and they no longer have it to reinstall.
I also had adobe elements 10 purchased from the app store. When you delete an app you can always go back to the app store and re download. It will be listed under purchased apps.
Just tried that now, downloaded Apple legacy java first, then deleted Elements and reinstalled but still crashes. Thanks for all the help anyway people.
