iPad pro slow internet

HI, is anybody having any problems with the Internet connection on their iPad pros? For some reason it seems to slow the whole network down when it's connected to wifi. I did a speed test on my iPhone 6 without the pro connected, and I was getting around 7mb but as soon as I connect the iPad it slows to 0.1mb. the same thing happens if I tether from my phone to my iPad. Any ideas?

Thanks

Turning off Bluetooth did solve the issue also for me on an iPad Pro 10.5.

Regarding Apple Pencil. I tried with Bluetooth turned back on and with the Apple Pencil plugged into the lightning port. Even then the issue with very slow Website loading persisted.

So, only solution seems to be turning off Bluetooth. Seriously this is not how it should be. I need Bluetooth. So Apple seems to really have a big issue here.

I have no Safari problems at all in the same Wi-Fi network on an iPad mini, iPhone 6 or Mac. Only on the iPad Pro. It takes several minutes to load some pages. Very annoying.

Update: I take what I said about Apple back. I read a bit more about the interference issue and learned that it is just the nature of the technology (bluetooth and wifi). It is a common potential issue for any device using wifi and bluetooth. It is not specific to Apple. Fortunately, there is an easy solution, at least for me, that allows for bluetooth to be enabled on the iPad Pro (and Pencil connected) and still have a good wifi connection. The solution is to simply change WiFi channel. In my case, I had my router use channel 11 for some other reasons. But I now set it to "automatic", which means letting the router decide which channel is best, based on its evaluation of channels with the least interference. So while bluetooth is enabled on the iPad and Pencil connected, I changed the router channel setting. Wifi goes off and then back on. It is now on the optimal channel. And voila! Speedtests now consistently give the expected internet speed.

Yesterday I had a chat with the Apple Support and they were very helpful. The issue is now fixed.

1. Reset the network via

Settings > General > Reset > network settings

2. Fully loaded the Apple Pencil.

3. Connected and removed the Apple Pencil

After that Safari runs as fast as expected. Actually I think the main issue was the not fully loaded Apple Pencil.

I had the same BS with my MacBook when using the Apple bluetooth mouse. Basically, I had to choose between using the mouse OR the internet, but not both at the same time due to the Bluetooth slowing down the internet to unusable. I now have a £60 paper weight that looks like a very stylish white mouse. This is seriously NOT what I’d expect from Apple, and especially when paying such a premium.

OMG! This is brilliant! Thank you thank you thank you! This is exactly the problem! Bluetooth looking for the Pencil. I have the iPad Pro 2017 running iOS 11 and the problem is still there! It was so frustrating to experience considerably lower speed than normal. Apple must fix this!!! This is a serious defect preventing the product from performing to its full potential. If Apple is not fixing this (and there is no indication they will given the time this bug was first discovered), there should be a class action lawsuit!

I can’t believe you managed to find the cause of the problem! Good work! Thanks again!

This has got to to be the oldest use of an excuse since Microsoft! I doubt there are 10 new ((very new) people that has not heard this reasoning. Come on you can do better then that!

I have purchased the iPad Pri thinking I was getting a top of the line product, boy was I disappointed! The pen is a wast of a $100 as only a few supported Apple products handle it.

The first video I went to use went in La La Land. I had to import it to video shop and then it imported it upside down! What the hey?!

All this money spent on a new iPad Pro & iPhone 8+ have been a very disappointing expieiance I’m ready to call it quits, all this memory and nothing to use it with.

Maybe they should quit fixing the X and stick to their staple.

There are well over 100 third party apps that support the Apple Pencil.

All of those apps will be paid apps!

If you can afford an iPad Pro and Pencil, you can afford to pay for apps that are compatible with both devices.

iPads and iOS work differently from a full blown computer with a full blown OS!

iOS is a more simplified OS designed to work seamlessly with all of Apple’s iDevices.

I have been using iPads for nearly 8 years! An iPad Pro for two years.

I get along just fine using an iPad Pro.

Not a fan of the Apple Pencil, though.

Don’t like its design and design gestalt.

I use a much better made, better designed, third party, smart Bluetooth stylus with my iPad Pro. Works great with all of the apps I use on my iPad Pro.

Not sure why editing video on iPad Pro caused issues, though.

Obviously cost is not the issue. Otherwise I would have stuck with the iPad. Ap doesn’t even support its own pen in their prime apps. Go out and buy new apps just to satisfy my curiosity?! I don’t think so. The fact that it doesn’t load videos (which my reason for buying) was the icing on the cake. I also have had all the iPad s this is the the first disappointment.

You DO what you need to do!

You wanted Apple Pencil compatible apps, they are out there and they work great!!

You’re not going to find free Apple Pencil compatible apps and yes, the few less than handful of apps Apple creates, are NOT Apple Pencil compatible.

So what?

You’re the one who missed out!

Other iPad Pro and Apple Pencil users are getting along with their devices just fine.

If you got rid of your iPad Pro and Pencil, you have no clue what you missed!

Your loss.

I know exactly what I missed, the video support! I had aAmiga that supported Wacom pencil (how many years ago was that?). It was supported by ‘illustrator, photo shop and many, many of their own products. Ap on the other habd doesn’t support their own products! This is wat you call ‘Missing out?! I don’t think so.

My advive to anyone that listens is to wait a few tears when they have it right.

On the same note, I purchased a 8+ that (again) not ready for prime time. As a developer I warned them of this but they pushed ahead and out came the X and they are now prioritize the X over the 8 which is loaded with bugs. Too much too soon, slow down Apple.

Nothing wrong with video support on any iPad, including the iPad Pro.

I use both Videoshop AND LumaFusion on iOS and those video apps have been working wonderful for me and many others who edit video on an iPad.

I edit video from my iPads, iPod Touch and my digital cameras both on iOS and on my Mac and have not had any notable major issues with doing so on either platform.

Been editing videos shot from my iDevices using my iPad Pro for the last two years.

Like I previously stated, I have no idea why YOU had issues with importing your videos or doing video editing on the iPad ( you never explained how the import was done or what the original source material was shot with), but your issues are not everyone’s issues,

If you were having so much difficulty with using a third party video editor, these third party video apps have help forums of their own on the video editor developers’ websites.

In addition plenty of video tutorials online on YouTube for many popular apps and for popular iOS video editors.

You had access to other online resources to help you learn how to edit video on an iPad.

I repeat, once again, the iPad Pro for you was a missed/wasted opportunity.

The tools for the iPad Pro are out there and they work. And many of the more “Pro” level apps for iPad work brilliantly!

The iPad Pro for me has been nothing but a positive, powerful, creative device for me and many others!

Dec 12, 2017 7:41 AM in response to Chuck_it

I just want to be clearer on my complaint. I have the newest (IPad) and now the iPad Pro.

On the iPad, all videos are fine and editable.

On the iPad Pro the exact same videos (but a few) don’t load, can’t be transferred to iMovie, nothing.

I still stand by my lack of support for the Pencil. Buying other products outside the Apple family is self defeating.
