iPad pro slow internet

HI, is anybody having any problems with the Internet connection on their iPad pros? For some reason it seems to slow the whole network down when it's connected to wifi. I did a speed test on my iPhone 6 without the pro connected, and I was getting around 7mb but as soon as I connect the iPad it slows to 0.1mb. the same thing happens if I tether from my phone to my iPad. Any ideas?

Thanks

Thank you I was going mad with a 1050€ device capable of a 1mo/sec download speed while my iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and even iPad 4 all were going at 39mo/sec.

I was ready to throw it out of the window.

i tried all sort of common troubleshoot but I would have never imagined that simply switching off the Bluetooth would fix the issue.

as as soon as l did that my wifi speed finally came back to normal an acceptable.

still they need to fix this as it's ridiculous that you can't have both Bluetooth and wifi open at the same time.

thanks really a lot. That helped me out big time

There are well over 100 third party apps that support the Apple Pencil.

All of those apps will be paid apps!

If you can afford an iPad Pro and Pencil, you can afford to pay for apps that are compatible with both devices.

iPads and iOS work differently from a full blown computer with a full blown OS!

iOS is a more simplified OS designed to work seamlessly with all of Apple’s iDevices.

I have been using iPads for nearly 8 years! An iPad Pro for two years.

I get along just fine using an iPad Pro.

Not a fan of the Apple Pencil, though.

Don’t like its design and design gestalt.

I use a much better made, better designed, third party, smart Bluetooth stylus with my iPad Pro. Works great with all of the apps I use on my iPad Pro.

Not sure why editing video on iPad Pro caused issues, though.

Obviously cost is not the issue. Otherwise I would have stuck with the iPad. Ap doesn’t even support its own pen in their prime apps. Go out and buy new apps just to satisfy my curiosity?! I don’t think so. The fact that it doesn’t load videos (which my reason for buying) was the icing on the cake. I also have had all the iPad s this is the the first disappointment.

You DO what you need to do!

You wanted Apple Pencil compatible apps, they are out there and they work great!!

You’re not going to find free Apple Pencil compatible apps and yes, the few less than handful of apps Apple creates, are NOT Apple Pencil compatible.

So what?

You’re the one who missed out!

Other iPad Pro and Apple Pencil users are getting along with their devices just fine.

If you got rid of your iPad Pro and Pencil, you have no clue what you missed!

Your loss.

I know exactly what I missed, the video support! I had aAmiga that supported Wacom pencil (how many years ago was that?). It was supported by ‘illustrator, photo shop and many, many of their own products. Ap on the other habd doesn’t support their own products! This is wat you call ‘Missing out?! I don’t think so.

My advive to anyone that listens is to wait a few tears when they have it right.

On the same note, I purchased a 8+ that (again) not ready for prime time. As a developer I warned them of this but they pushed ahead and out came the X and they are now prioritize the X over the 8 which is loaded with bugs. Too much too soon, slow down Apple.

Nothing wrong with video support on any iPad, including the iPad Pro.

I use both Videoshop AND LumaFusion on iOS and those video apps have been working wonderful for me and many others who edit video on an iPad.

I edit video from my iPads, iPod Touch and my digital cameras both on iOS and on my Mac and have not had any notable major issues with doing so on either platform.

Been editing videos shot from my iDevices using my iPad Pro for the last two years.

Like I previously stated, I have no idea why YOU had issues with importing your videos or doing video editing on the iPad ( you never explained how the import was done or what the original source material was shot with), but your issues are not everyone’s issues,

If you were having so much difficulty with using a third party video editor, these third party video apps have help forums of their own on the video editor developers’ websites.

In addition plenty of video tutorials online on YouTube for many popular apps and for popular iOS video editors.

You had access to other online resources to help you learn how to edit video on an iPad.

I repeat, once again, the iPad Pro for you was a missed/wasted opportunity.

The tools for the iPad Pro are out there and they work. And many of the more “Pro” level apps for iPad work brilliantly!

The iPad Pro for me has been nothing but a positive, powerful, creative device for me and many others!

I just want to be clearer on my complaint. I have the newest (IPad) and now the iPad Pro.

On the iPad, all videos are fine and editable.

On the iPad Pro the exact same videos (but a few) don’t load, can’t be transferred to iMovie, nothing.

I still stand by my lack of support for the Pencil. Buying other products outside the Apple family is self defeating.

Hi Leebo123,

Congratulations on your purchase of the new iPad Pro. I know you are excited to be using it, let's see if we can get things sorted out for you.

If you are having issues with your available network speed being reduced when your iPad Pro is on, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.

First, quit all running applications and test again -

Force an app to close in iOS

Next, I would try restarting the iPad Pro -

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Best to you.

I received my iPad pro couple of weeks ago. After being very frustrated with the sluggish internet performance of the iPad Pro I attempted a simple speed test. With some help of a friend, I took my iPad Pro, my iPad 2, my phone 5s and my MacBookPro laptop and set them all to the same address in the address bar of safari. We both pushed the enter button and each device almost instantly fully loaded the page. The iPad Pro just sat there stalled. Troubleshooting, I followed another forum site's instructions to clear all internet info from the device and even turned off the Wi-Fi. It seemed to help for the first search then again sluggishly came to a halt. I took it in to the mac genius bar and they said it must have been an unruly app I had loaded. We also did a system diagnostic and he found no problems with the internet. We set the iPad Pro to a new device state to prove it was not my apps causing the problem. It still stalled. When the Genius said to me "see it is fixed!" I asked him to help me do the quick and dirty test I discussed above. After we did my ipad2 and the stores MacBookPro quickly went to the site requested while the iPad Pro stalled. He gave me an exchange iPad Pro right out of the box and it too stalled. Apple has a problem with this device or its software. On a second note, I noticed that the clicking sounds normally heard when typing and the locking clicks heard when unlocking the iPad Pro were none existent. If you hold the device up to your ear you can barely hear the clicking. This too was thought to be part of the faulty originally iPad Pro that I purchased. When we took the new replacement iPad Pro out of the box to sort the internet issue out we found that the new iPad Pro also was unable to produce clicking sounds. The settings were set up correctly for the device and mute was not on. While waiting for the new iPad Pro to be setup I did a cursory search and found that other people are having the same problem suggesting software issues since the speakers worked fine in iTunes and other sound apps. I became angry because I spent more than an hour with a senior technical advisor over the phone working on the lack of sounds while typing and he finally told me to take the machine to the Apple

Store which i did. Then i spent two hours in the apple store proving to the geniuses that their machine would not work while all the while they kept telling me that this problem has never come up. BS How could the problem exist so prevalently on the forums and two iPad Pros, one purchased in Florida and one at their store in Indiana be random.

I made a decision to return this iPad Pro I waited so patiently for in hopes that Apple will come out and admit these two issues are real and fix the problem. It is a shame that it takes a lowly customer to do the hard work to prove to a company like Apple that they have an issue with their hardware/software while all along there is post after post documenting these issues on the forum sites. It is as if Apple doesn't want to admit the issues.

MMyself as well. I have yet to encounter a feature on my iPad pro that was more successful than the previous iterations. The performance on my tablet is so slow I am definitely returning it And go back to using my older devices. And after reading this forum I will most definitely NOT exchange my product. If anybody is here considering purchasing an IPAD PRO DO NOT. IMREPEAT DO NOT DO IT. everythi g on this device is **** poor. From its spelling correction to its counter intuitive interface. PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE is a very real concern with companies like APPLE in 2016. I Am so sick of the compounding inefficicies and the backwards pattern of convenience that I experience with apple products. I am one very unsatisfied Apple customer. And I am very aware that no other technology company is competent at satisfying people either. so i am stuck. II just wish my slavery was a little more enjoyable.

I came across Leebo123's concern/comment as I was browsing through this community discussion and I was actually tempted to bring my iPad pro to apple shop to have it checked as well. But then I did one last check before bringing my iPad pro to apple. I called my internet provider and mentioned the problem with my internet connection speed, plus the effect of my wifi extender (from same provider) to the internet connection as well.

These were my concerns prior to the call:

1. Ipad pro's speed with browsing and direct streams was poor, especially when it is situated away from my main router hub (relatively slower compared to my other apple devices).

2. My internet service was interrupted (drop in connection, if not, none at all) everytime the wifi extender is switched on. This happens to all my devices.

The technician went through checks on all of my devices. He asked me to check and change a particular channel on the providers web and reboot all my devices.

Now my problem is fixed. My iPad pro was not the problem to start with.

Hope this will be of help to other readers.

Thank you.

Have had my iPad Pro for three months with none of the issues you describe.

If the websites you visited on your iPad Pro had some code in then the iOS can't deal with, then no iDevice will be able to access those websites even though your MacBook did. iDevices and standard Apple computers are two totally different products that work differently and in some cases, websites that seem to be easily accessed from a standard laptop/desktop computer cannot be accessed from an Apple mobile iDevice.

That is just the way things are, right now.

Your IPad Pro issues may have, indeed, been isolated despite the apparent fact that it happened in two units.

I don't like the key click sounds, normally, but checked this feature on my iPad and it is working as expected.

I have noted in a few iPad Pro postings that some Apple store locations have received small batches of iPad Pro models that have had similar repeatable issues/defects, but the issue of that seems fairly isolated and not typical of the greater iPad Pro using community.

So, sorry you felt the need to return your iPad Pro.

I really love mine!

Most slow internet connection issues can be traced back to Internet router/MODEM being used to access the Internet service provider.

Best to check the Internet router/MODEM first to check for issues with Internet slowdowns or other Internet related issues before troubleshooting the computer or device being affected.

Sometimes a simple hard reset of the MODEM/router (unplugging from main power for 30 seconds to a minute) is enough to solve an Internet access or slowdown issue.
