The 12.9" iPad does not have a flash.

The 9.7" however does have a True Tone flash.

iPad Pro has remarkable cameras on both the front and the back. The 12.9‑inch model’s 8‑megapixel iSight camera lets you shoot beautiful photos and video. The 9.7‑inch iPad Pro comes with a 12‑megapixel iSight camera, which can capture 4K video, 240‑fps slo-mo videos, and Live Photos. It’s also the first iPad with True Tone flash, so skin tones look great regardless of lighting.

Things are sharper on the other side of iPad Pro, too. The front-facing FaceTime HD camera’s latest sensor makes video calls more lifelike. And on the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, the 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera features Retina Flash with True Tone for gorgeous selfies.

Yeah, yeah.

The original post and replies are nearly a year old and about when the first 12.9 inch screen iPad Pro came out!

This is an old post.

At the time these posts came out, the iPad Pro wasn't out, as yet, and there was no views of the backside of the large iPad Pro.

Plus, up until that time, NO iPad ever had an LED flash with their backfacing cameras.

I got my iPad Pro as soon as they hit the Apple Stores and yes, indeed, there is a 8 megapixel camera with an LED flash right near the lens.

Really? I am using my 12.9" iPad Pro to type this and mine does NOT have an LED flash as at all, anywhere. It has a microphone hole next to the rear camera lens, not a flash. And no flash is mentioned in the 12.9" iPad Pro specs nor have I seen any report of any upgrade or changes to the large screen iPad Pro since I bought mine as a pre-order once they were announced.

For the 12" iPad there hasn't been any changes since its release in November of 2015.

The 9.7" was released in March of 2016 with the "enhancements".

I don't expect any further updates until next year again in March when I would assume both the 9.7" and the 12" will get a update. Probably a new A10X chip and a 3D touch screen I would be willing to wager.

OOOhhh!!!!

THAT is a MIC!!!

I had NO idea!!!!

I thought all of this time that was the LED flash!!!!

That's an audio microphone!

Did not know this, at all.

I had always assumed thar dot was a flash unit!

So, still no camera flash (except the smaller iPad Pro, now) on the majority of iPads!

I thought for the entire year I had this iPad that the dot next to the camera lens was a led flashing light.

Kinda bummed out about this newly discovered fact, now.

Most of my videos and images I have shot with my iPad Pro still came out pretty well using that 8 mp camera, though.

I attributed the improvements in video and image quality to not only a better camera lens, but to an iPad having a fictitious LED flash?!

So, the dot is a second microphone and not a flash unit!

Well, I guess better late than never for finding this out...

😮😐😕😠
