Why does Apple Forum not accept questions from an iOS9 iPad Air?

I get a standard message: You may not change this message" and the question Discussion freezes.

Is this some stupid WINDOWS software we have to use in the Apple Forums that eliminate discussions composed on an iOS9 iPad Air?

I have to get on my iMac to ask any discussions at Apple Forums.

iPad Air, iOS 9.1, 32 GB

I tally two(2) delayed in transit email notices today (never before experienced that I recall)...

I sort my email by SENT>Descending - selected for reply in MailApp then return to find one "underneath" it [is that it?]

I also follow 3 forums... for several weeks, I have been randomly missing the OPost but do get the 1st reply

I'll betcha 'Notifications' is a separate "Module" that needs to be 'communicated with' - remember the image(s) of the complex Architecture? All the cylinders are different databases and services. UserData + Messages + Services if memory serves. Maybe more.

It was your "followup" issue...

TYping in IOS 9 on my pad in the Apple forum always produces double CAPS. See the front of the sentence?

typing in the forum window is a disgusting process On an iPad Air. Better done in OSX.

to which I replied...

The DubbleCap is a known issue with iPads. The Rich Text Editor is an "add-on" to the SiteWare - Jivesoftware - it is Open Source and I don't believe it has been 'monkeyed with' like the AppleJiveWare that runs the rest.

If I remember AlohaBob's workaround right, he types a SPACE before starting the first paragraph (it only occurs on paragraph one)

The " add-on " to which I referred is named "TinyMCE" > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinymce

Then Bob. myself & Meg began discussing the fact that there are many 'glitches' that we deal with every day - some have been addressed (or so we have been assured) that are now recurring with greater frequency

What does that mean to you? If you wish to participate here, you must learned the tricks (if any, and there are some) or patience as there is no recourse.

again, your followup issue & my workaround(Bob's) spawned followup discussion of another 'quirk' in TinyMCE - unexpected FONTsize changes in the 'transition' between composing a reply and its actual posting.

I Zoomed the text way up in Firefox to make the difference more apparent. AlohaBob made a funny - " Yikes ! I did that ? "

Soooo, you actually brought this on yourself 😉 with your followup DoubleCap issue post.

Believe it or not, you'll get used to it - or else tolerate it -- as "it is what it is"

Unfortunately, you still got it wrong - at least partly...

  1. No add-on for ASC with regard to writing posts - BUT...
  2. I do use an add-on called "Stylish" to invoke a custom Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) that makes viewing the forums and threads more "desktop friendly" - see:

Regarding your misunderstanding:

  1. ASC runs on a heavily customized version of Jivesoftware - I call it AppleJiveWare - there is a real 'department' called the Apple Jive Team that hires Jivesoftware Custom Coders
  2. TinyMCE is the Rich Text Editor implemented as a "module" or "Add-on" TO Jivesoftware in all its versions - and thus, AppleJiveWare - I know of no major modifications to it.

I do use a Mac. Firefox is my browser of choice. I do NOT experience the DDouble CCap anomaly that iPad users do. I DO see FONTsize anomalies sporadically.

For everyone, regardless of platform, the FONTsize 'switcheroo' happens in the "limbo" between the [Reply] button and the display of the result in the thread.

AlohaBob uses an iPad EXCLUSIVELY. Any issue you have with iPad & ASC = he is THE MAN

To recap... Everyone has issues of some sort. iPad has its very own glitch with DDouble CCaps on the FIRST Paragraph that can be defeated in any one of several ways that AlohaBob has posted earlier in response to my initial tip of typing a SPACE first, then proceeding normally. There is no real reason to mess with a point size difference - more trouble than it is worth.

You're welcome.

I never use an HTML editor, but it sounds like even when you do there are typing glitches to occur in the Apple Forums. I never have issues when using Safari in OS X, it's just my iOS9 iPad Air. But glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I unsuccessfully tried to find how to communicate w AlohaBob, the pad guru. I chose to follow him in Apple Forum, whatever that means.

I'm flattered but hardlly deserve the praise. I just oike helping people when possible. To follow someone tap their name on this page. It will take you to their Bio page. Tap the grey checkmark to follow. Unfortunately I can't use my Bio page for demostration. The problem with following is if you have your email notifications turned on you'll be getting all my ASC email notifications.

Here's how you follow.
