How to restore iphone 3gs without updating from mavericks to yosemite
itunes is showing me an error when I try to restore an iphone 3g, now the iPhone is locked and says connect to itunes but itunes asks for restore but it does not do it. I have mavericks installed and can't upgrade because I would loose programs such as parallels
Any advice ? Thanks
The iPhone 3GS should not require Yosemite. What kind of error is iTunes showing when you attempt to restore? You say the phone is locked, what do you see, a black screen with an iTunes logo and USB cable? If so, then check out this support document for some additional instructions. itunes says unknown error occurred(14) and when I click for more information it takes me here Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes - Apple Support
the only thing missing is to upgrade my software which I don't want to do.
And yes the iphone just shows the plug with the itunes logo, and it is just 3G ..not even 3GS idk why the trouble

This appears to be a USB error, and then follow the steps down as necessary. I said 3GS, as that is what you said in your OP.
