I installed the Security Update for OS X and now my My Book no longer backs up. It says it is read only. How can I change this?

I installed the Security Update for OS X Yosemite on my iMac. I think my back up was changed to iCloud and now my My Book no longer backs up. It says it is read only. How can I change it back so it will back up again?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Hi there Theresa,


It sounds like you're no longer able to backup your computer to Time Machine because the drive appears to be read only. I would suggest using the troubleshooting in the following article in the section titled "Red "i" message: "The backup volume is read only.":
