Concerning my case, the problem appeared with OS 9

And is linked with the use of Messages and/or FaceTime on several devices.

OS 9 and 9.1 requests a new activating after each use of Messages on an other device than the iPhone.

This is clearly an APPLE problem ! Not a provider problem. It's the OS who lost the registering, and who sends a new sms to UK.

As long not enough consumer complain about this "money steeling", apple will not correct this wrong behaviour.

A solution would be not to buy iPhones anymore, and buy a i.e. a Samsung ;-)

I just had the same problem. I am here in Majuro for work and I just had my local prepaid simcard activated. They only have one telecommunication provider here which NTA. It was not even a week and I only used my load for 17 sms and all my load disappeared. Thus, I went to NTA to asked them where did all my load go and when they checked this number appeared. I insisted that I have never sent any messages on that number and I had them checked my phone log for confirmation. They had me waited long hours just to be told that they won’t be refunding my load since it’s not there fault but my phone. They even told me that my phone probably has virus. I told them I have used this phone (iphone 6s) in other countries and Inever experience this problem. And all they could tell me is to complain to apple...It was so frustrating!

Hello,

Please note, I do NOT use either iMessage or FaceTime and they are turned off in settings. I did turn back on iMessage and FaceTime, then logged out, then shut them off just today. So I don't know if they are still sending SMS's. And as they do not appear on my iPhone, I will have to go to the carriers office to see if they have stopped.

If they are still sending, what must I do now...sign in again to Apple ID, then log out and shot off facetime/imessage again?

Hello,

I'm facing similar problem . . . My wife and myself have both an iPhone 5, with same OS 9.1 and same settings, same provider (Proximus).

I'm charged a few times each month for activation sms sent to UK concerning FaceTime an Messages. My wife was charged only at the first use of the iPhone.

My provider also says that the problem is due to Apple, not to him. I finally discovered that they are right !

Since Apple's OS 9, when using Messages on several devices (iPhone, iMac, PowerBook, iPad, etc), you need to re-activate the iPhone (enter login and password) nearly every time after you used Messages on another device ! This activating is on billed !

Until now I never got an answer from Apple to this problem :-(

May be because not enough people are complaining about this story ?

Basically, what will happen is if you want to keep using your iphone you will have to pay for each one of those messages, no matter how many.. because noone will take responsibility for it.

We customers are basically being forced to pay for a service that should be free or even if not, should be well documented while buying an Iphone or making a contract with our provider.

Clearly, this a deceiving matter in which either Apple or the Providers are "stealing" from under our noses.

I've never felt this way about a company before, but one thing i really don't appreciate is checking my bills report and noticing i have a couple of messages charged which i did not sent.

Therefore, the only way to get things cleared, from my point of view, is to sue one of the companies and waste time and money, this is basically for someone to look over your case (neither Apple or provider wants to check this for you).. or you either ditch iphone and move on or keep with the aleatory charges.

Hi, can u tell me where i can find that information? ("If you are using a supported wireless provider, there will be no charge.") I mean from apple. I have that problem also, my provider is supported but they are charging me every activation. So i can try to fix this problem with them. They are on the list but i cant just tell them that they cant charge me bacause they are on the list. 🙂

same issue:

All of a sudden for past two months I am getting billed form my Panama

cell service for sending 15 international SMS messages to +44778***5094 at

a cost of $8.00 per month. The number has been assoctiated to Apple's

FaceTime. They sms's do not show in my message history.

I DO NOT USE iMessage or faceTime and both are turned off in my iphone 6,

ios 10.10.2

How do I stop this?

Those SMS are needed to activate iMessage and FaceTime. If you are using a supported

wireless provider, there will be no charge. Evidently your Panama cellular company is not a

supported wireless provider.

You have 3 choices: pay for the SMS required for activation, or don't

use FaceTime/iMessage, or use a supported provider.

Did you log out of FaceTime and iMessage before turning them off? Even

if you are sure this is done, do it again.

I have the same issue here the Philippines. My service provider Smart Communications refunded me the "iMessage & Facetime activation" charges because they had already helped me disable both apps on my iPhone 6. But the imagined SMS are still being sent from my iPhone number. Apple is not interested in helping us solve this problem. I'm seriously considering changing to an android if this issue continues. Apple is starting to suck badly for me.
