How do i stop this and connect to the internet using Hotspot Via USB "iPhone USB has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet."

I use to be able to connect to the internet using my iPhone and hot spotting it via USB cable, and now i go into Network setting and this comes up.

"iPhone USB has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet.",

it works using the same phone and WI Fi so i know that the internet provider isn't the issue. 😟

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), null

Hello Jemo211,

After reviewing your post, It sounds like the iPhone is using a self assigned IP address. You are connecting the iPhone to your computer via USB? What is the IP address it is giving you? I would recommend you read these articles, they may be able to help troubleshoot the issue.

Internet connection does not work with an IP address space of 169.254.xxx.xxx from ISP, router, or manual configuration - Apple Support

The 169.254.xxx.xxx IP address space is reserved for self-assigning or link-local IP addresses. They are used when your device is not connected to any network at all or a network that has no DHCP server, so that devices can assign their own IP address.

Make sure your router (such as an AirPort base station in default configuration) is working properly and is assigning IP addresses to your devices via DHCP.
