bose sound link air wifi problems

Hello, i recently updated my macbook pro to El Capitan . I have a Bose sound link air wifi speaker that worked fine till the update and a few days after that as well . Suddenly speaker lost connection a few days ago and since then it is impossible to connect it again to the wireless.

When i plug it in the socket it lights the blue wi fi sign on the speaker makes the connection noise and starts to blink but nothing happens.

I try to connect it with the cable but always shows me "an error has occured" sign in the bose sound link setup and the wi fi cannot be found .I tried to reset the speaker holding the reset button under the speaker till the amber light lights on but speaker still doesn t find the wireless. I have a BT home hub 5 .

I don't know what else to do guys .... i am thinking to bring another computer and check if i can connect it with that one as with my macbook looks impossible unless i need to modify something . Speaker works fine if i put it in Aux mode and connect it with a jack to jack cable to the phone or iPad.

Please give me an advise or a solution if possible . Many thanks ! G

I'm having exactly the same problem. Driving me nuts. How much was it to fix the speaker if it was the wifi card? I've looked online to see if I can find a replacement part, but I come up empty. Any advice since you last posted this problem? Any pro tips would be much appreciate so that I don't waste time chasing the same problems.

Anyone else done anything different than poor Kosminul here?

This is my experience with this problem:

To use the Soundlink Air wi-fi setup you need these OS

OS v10.6 (Snow Leopard), OS v10.7 (Lion) or OS v10.8 (Mountain Lion)

At least according to BOSEs swedish website.

I run 10.10.2, that could be a problem??

When I connect the USB cable the application starts to seach for wi-fi, but only for a seconds then i get the error message.

I have the same problem with the alternative setup as most of you, no wi-fi from the speaker.

I just got of the phone with the BOSE-suport in Sweden and they just said that I need to send it in for repairs.

They agreed that I should not have to pay.

Hi, I've been having the same problem for weeks..finally fixed it. It became an issue when we upgraded our iMac OS to El Capitan, and it seems our firewall settings were changed. Go to System Preferences - Security & Privacy - Firewall. Click the lock to enter your password. Go to Firewall options. Scroll through the list of connections and check your speakers are set to 'alllow incoming connections' - this is where we found our problem - our speakers were highlighted red and set to 'block incoming connections'. A quick click to set to 'allow' and job done. Hope this helps!
