Photos (app) ruins my workflow
How can I avoid using Photos (application) after updating to El Capitan.
My normal workflow with my pictures is ruined.
Can I just remove it and go on as before?
Thanks

You don't have to use it at all, So yes. Do what you were always doing. As it's part of the OS you can't really remove it though
But it doesn't allow me to use my usual app for transferring photos. That's the problem.
I am using Nikon transfer and filing my photos manually, and I have a filing system, that works for me.
When Photos launches after you insert a card, disable the option "open photos ...." In the toolbar. Then Photos will not open for that card again, until you reformat the card.
or simply close pPhotos and launch the application you want to use instead.
You might try this approach:
1 - launch Image Capture (located in the Applications folder) and then insert the memory card.
2 - at the lower left hand corner of IC's window click on the drop down menu and select your Nikon application under Other.
If the drop down menu isn't showing click on this button
3 - reboot, insert the memory card and see if your Nikon app launches automatically, If it does but doesn't after your reformat the card repeat and try setting "No application" in the drop down menu. See if this will stick for all memory cards and you can manually launch your Nikon app.
It's exactly the same proplem I have and it's really annoying... ⚠⚠
Apple should as fast as possible do something radical about it..
I can download pics through Lightroom, but not Photoshop, **** all over..
Be sure to tell Apple what you'd like via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.
There has never been a way to "download" anything to or from Photoshop. So I have no idea what you're talking about. Did you mean Bridge?
To Terence Devlin.:
Yes of course Bridge!
What stops you using Bridge?
Nothing stops me from using Bridge to everything else, but I can't download the pictures from it, when I connect cardreader with card in, Bridge can't find it and opens Photos every time instead.
Quit Photos.
Now if Bridge can't see the card perhaps Bridge needs an update. That has nothing to do with Photos. If one is not available, Image Capture (in the Applications Folder) will move images to your folders for you.
I just want to use Nikon transfer to load my photos from camera, phone and iPad, and now I don't have that option, and that prevents me from filing my pictures as I am used to. Can somebody please tell me if I have any way of uninstalling Photos or any other way of working around it? Please. Thanks

As previously answered
1 - no you can not remove Photos as it is part of the OS
2 - Photos is not preventing you from doing anything - just do not use it
3 - How to wok around it? Stop using it and use what you want
4 - If your Nikon software is not working contact Nikon support - that is not a user nor an apple issue

Hi Terence.
Thanks for all you advise and help.
I have the latest version of Bridge all the time, I have Creative cloud from Adobe.
It does'nt matter what I do. I can go to the folder in Bridge and copy the pictures to the folder i want on my Mac, only it's annoying to do every time.
I do not want Photos to open every time i use the cardreader, but can't get it to stop that anywhere in the options of Photos.
I think my problem is quite similar to what Brisjets problem is..
