Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
For some reason the individual channels contained within the Favorites section in Apple News always display old content and do not refresh for day or sometimes even weeks. Is it supposed to work like this? I would love to use Apple News to aggregate all the sites I read but not if I Cannot access the most recent content available.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), Intel Core 2 Duo
Check your settings at Settings > News.
Also, does your iPad have a cellular capability? Are you using iOS 9.1? There was an issue with updating News over cellular before iOS 9.1.
Settings are all good. iPad and iPhone have the same issue and I think it's more of an apple problem. It's not that the app doesn't refresh because it does it just won't pull the most recent data. For example if I go to Engadgets website I see articles from say an hour ago. The news app shows the most recent article is like 6 hours ago and it has no where even close to the number of articles that engadget actually posts on the site.

Im not sure what you mean by saying it works differently depending on your location. I can't imagine why a news reader would do anything differently based on where I am located.
This article is really not helpful. This is happening on multiple devices since the rollout of ios9. App has been restarted multiple times as have both devices. You cannot uninstall and reinstall an apple app. I have tried on both cellular and wifi, have the latest software installed on both my Air 2 and iPhone 6.

also I am not receiving any error messages etc. it's that when you compare the content from the website to Apple news that you notice a discrepancy.

I Think that is there because News is only available in a limited number of countries. It would make no sense for it to be different depending on where you are within the United States.
Same problem here. I have ComicVine and Destructoid as my custom added sources. If I check my feeds in Feedly, they're up to date. In News, the articles are from yesterday for Destructoid and about ten hours old for ComicVine.
I think it's an apple issue. I have the same problem. Some of my news feeds show 48 weeks. I can't seem to find any settings to change to help the problem.
