iPad Pro smart keyboard shortcuts stop working

I originally thought disconnecting the keyboard worked sometimes, but now I'm not so sure. Sometimes it just starts working again. It was probably just luck.

And same issue here.... The home screen is the killer keystroke thats missing. I'm wondering if it is something to do with the keyboard nationality i.e. It's a US keyboard and I'm attempting to use it as an English UK keyboard.

Would really like a fix/workaround for this.... It's almost perfect (the pen is amazing).

sorry to hijack the thread but i have an ipad mini 2 (running iOS 9.2) and last night i bought an apple wireless keyboard (the previous model, not magic 🙂).

everythink worked flawlessly except that, after i left the ipad for a couple of minutes (activating the lock screen and the screen going off) and returned, the keyboard stopped working on the unlock screen (had to input the PIN on the touch screen) and all the keyboard shortcuts like Home Screen, alt+tab (app selection) or cmd+space (spotlight), are not working...but every app shortcut is working! so, i can use the keyboard normally inside the apps with every shortcut working but when i want to go back to the home screen or search something or switch app, the "OS" keyboard shortcuts don't work.

restarting the keyboard fixes the problem until the next couple of idle minutes.

this is a disgraceful problem and it's completely ruining my keyboard experience so far.

now i must wait for a fix somehow...i didn't expect such a bold flaw in something so basic Apple...

I'm also experiencing these symptoms. I set up a Genius Bar appointment. Due to holidays, next appointment slot is in a few days. I'll try to remember to report back what they say.

if i may, how do you know that it's a software issue? Maybe some of us got defected hardware and we should exchange it.

It is not due to defective hardware. It's a software glitch. On iOS 9.1 everything worked great but as soon as the upgrade to 9.2 happened, everything went haywire.

I've disabled all autocorrect features, switched to the international keyboard and I still have to type at 30 WPM in order for the iPad Pro and Logitech Create to keep up with me.

Glad I'm not the only one with the shortcuts issue: Command+Tab and Command+Shift+H are the ones use the most.

Also, when the iPad is locked, instead of swiping on the screen to expose the numbers pad, sometimes pressing the keyboard's spacebar will do the same thing ... but not consistently so.

Was this meant to be a feature, or was it just fluke?

How was the appointment with the Genius Bar? I am having the exact same problem, and to me started only after installing iOS 9.2.1 this week

I am very curious to see what the Genius Bar is going to say, to me clearly is an iOS 9 bug, I do not think it's a problem with the Apple Smart Keyboard because I've read the same problem happens with the Apple Magic Keyboard as well, and in that case it is a Bluetooth connection, looking forward to your comments, thanks

I'm sorry to waste everyone's time, especially @logicito. But, I cancelled my Genius Bar appointment again.

I was unable to reliably demonstrate these issues just an hour before my appointment.

In preparing for the appointment, I rolled my iPad's version of iOS back to 9.2.1. I was running the public beta of 9.3, and I didn't want the Genius Bar employee to blame the version of iOS I was on.

After I was back on 9.2.1 and set up the iPad as a new iPad, I'm not getting any app skips. I am getting some pauses in my ability to switch apps immediately after using the cmd+tab shortcut. That doesn't seem abnormal to me.

As other people have said, these issues may eventually resurface. If they do, I'll set up another Genius Bar appointment.

I was at one of the Shanghai Apple Store and tested the cmd-tab bug where it skips apps, and every single iPad Pro I tried had the bug. 100% failure rate.
