So you might try this as a potential solution.

  1. Check Mail>Preferences>Accounts.
  2. Select the account in question and check whether Enable This Account box is checked. Some of my accounts disappeared and when I stumbled into this page, I found that they were still listed under accounts but the box had somehow become unchecked.
