after attempting an ios update my screen locked up showing only and itunes icon and a small arrow and a lock with a line down to start button . help
The iTunes icon and cable image means that the iPad has gone into recovery mode - you need to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and that should recognise that it's in recovery mode and let you reset it and restore/resync your content to it
