Automatically sync greyed out in iTunes

I am running Windows 7 and have an iPhone 6. I noticed that recently iTunes was not starting and syncing automatically when I connect my phone to my computer. When I looked in the phone settings in iTunes, I noticed that the option "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" is now unchecked and greyed out. It used to work just fine. I can still sync, it just won't do it automatically. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi tigerdg,

What version of iTunes are you using? The resource below explains all of the different settings regarding automatic syncing with your iPhone.

By default, iTunes syncs your device whenever you connect it to your computer. If you want to have iTunes ask you before syncing, do one of the following:

Require a prompt before syncing this device: Click Summary, then deselect “Open iTunes when this [device] is connected.”

Require a prompt before syncing all devices: Choose Edit > Preferences, click Devices, and select “Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.”

When you’re ready to sync, click Apply.

Take care,
