i can't seem to play any midi notes from my roland fantom x6 keyboard. it started happening after i upgraded to 10.11 el capitan. roland is no longer make new drivers for the keyboard. will i have to buy a midi to usb converter?

Be sure you're upgraded to OS X 10.11.1, and to LPX 10.2.0. Be sure all third party plugins are updated to El Capitan compatible versions.
You don't need a converter, as you can plug the Fantom X6's USB port into your Mac's USB port, and it works just fine.
Both are upgraded. it still doesn't work. all my audio units vst is working. just not show that midi is working when i press any keys down. yeah i use to just use my usb from my fantom to my lap top. now they're saying they're not going to make any new drivers for the new OS's. the last update was for mountain lion. so they gave me two options. I'm thinking about getting the um-one if i can't find a solution to this. i don't want to downgrade OS either. i have a metric halo audio interface so i don't need another audio interface.

Before you do anything...
Try this:
Unplug the Fantom USB connection from the computer, re-install the last version of the Roland drivers. Shut down the computer, re-start the computer and let it settle a couple of minutes, plug the Fantom's USB back in.

nope. i can't even install the last two drivers that they put out for mac. i tried to install them and both said that the operating system is not supported...
The operating system you are using is not supported. Please check the supported operating systems.
There was a generic USB MIDI driver that was working for quite a few devices but I can't find the link. If I find it I'll past back later this evening.
can you repost it please? can't get my fantom x8 to work anymore through USB.
Sorry bro but its not going to work because Roland no longer supports the Fantom X... I had the same problem and contacted Roland directly through facebook... they responded by telling me there would not be any new drivers for the Fantom X line and they suggested I buy a usb to midi cable.
I didn't connect my Roland Fantom X8 to Mac 10.12.2 either.đ
