How can I remove pop up ads or a redirect virus in Safari?

So, I've tried following instructions on almost every post I could find to remove adware in Safari. I have had no luck. I keep being redirected to ads that won't close unless I quit Safari. I have no extensions in Safari. I have not been able to find any of the files that are mentioned to be removed manually. I ran Malwarebytes and it did not find anything. I am currently running Avast, but have found no viruses. What can I do?

Thanks... opening Safari in safe mode didn't really help. I've tried reseting the router.

So I did that whole router thing... the 8.8.8.8 is gone, but I still got a Mackeeper ad

That wasn't the problem. The other address was the problem. Is it gone?

"MacKeeper" is a scam that is heavily promoted by intrusive ads on many websites. The fact that you see such an ad doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong. On what web page did you see it?

The Mackeeper ad is the one that has been keeping me from using Safari, or at least it started with that one. A lot of different ones have come up since. It pops up from different websites, as a redirect.
