I keep getting email from Charter for last 1 day that one of the computers I use has a botnet. The only computer I use is MacBook Pro 13 inch, early 2011, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5. Recently upgraded to OS X EL Capitan. How do I remove it?

One thing you have to realize about ISP's is that most of them are run by scumbags. Commonly, they enter into a marketing agreement with the publisher of some worthless "anti-virus" software. Their side of the deal is to send fake warnings to the subscribers to try to scam them into installing the software. Often the software is "free" initially, but the (required) "updates" are paid.

Unless there are Windows or Android devices on your network, you're not on a botnet. If you really were on a botnet, Charter would cut you off.
