OS X El Capitan Recovery Update 1.0

After installing the combo update for OS X 10.11.2, the App Store offers the OS X El Capitan Recovery Update 1.0, which seems designed for beta testers to install before installing El Capitan. I suppose I should ignore the prompt, but why am I getting it?

This keeps coming up as an available update even though at this time I have it listed as being installed 3x under the "Updates Installed".

That's been a problem with the update system for a while now for various updates. Search here for posts by Linc Davis about the same subject. There is a folder you can delete which should resolve the problem. I don't remember off-hand where it is.

I'm having the same issues. OS X El Capitan Recovery Update 1.0 appears to not install but the download history has it downloaded quite a number of times. This clearly isn't normal. If there's a way to fix this by deleting a folder like you said I'd really like to know which folder to delete. I looked through Linc Davis' past posts and I haven't seen anything in regards to this glitch.

Above is the path to the folderthat needs to be removed.

The folder is normally hidden, so you may not see it.

In Finder use the G To Folder item under Go and type in private/var/folders in the text box

and from there navigate to zz and then the folder zyxvp........ ending in 68, control-click and then Move To Trash, don't delete

you could also drag it to the desktop before for extra safety.

Restart the Mac and relaunch the App Store and see if you are able to download now. The folder and files within it are regenerated on Restart.

If you are happy you can then empty the Trash and delete the one on the desktop if you did that.
