iOS 9.2 iCloud backup still not fixed!!!

So I've been plagued with the Backup could not be completed problem and I've been waiting for Apple to release a fix and I was happy to see this problem mentioned as one of the bugs dealt with in iOS 9.2, BUT it was not actually fixed!

Now my phone is not backed up at all after all Apple geniuses advised that I delete older backups from iCould and try again, my MacBook storage is too small to carry my 128gb iPhone backup and now if my phone dies for some reason all my life is gone with it, well most of it!

Tried backing up my iPhone to external storage but Apple won't let you do that cause we are freaking slaves and not free to do what we want, so now I hope they would finally listen and address this issue that has been mentioned many times before!!!!

I have been going through the exact same thing. Have tried resetting network settings, signing out and back into iCloud, soft reset, changing what is being backed up, and recently before 9.2 deleting the old backup off iCloud. Now I'm in same situation have iPhone 6 Plus 9.2 128 GB with no icloud back up saying could not complete and last backup never! I did manage to get a backup to my iMac but really really don't want to do a factory reset and restore unless I'm for sure it will fix the problem.

Apple please help. You have acknowledged the problem but apparently the attempt to correct it with 9.2 did not work.

Hi Mamanerd, that was a great report. I don't know if you read my report that I posted about a week ago, but I got my icloud back ups working. I might have got lucky though, but basically I was fighting and trying to recover my notes all day and restored my phone a few times, ended up saving my notes into word on my iPhone, leaving all my iPhone notes empty, and and iCloud backup started working. I haven't tried restoring from my iCloud back up yet. Maybe I'll try to restore to my old iPhone 4s to see if the back up is actually there. Through it all though I have to say that backing up to my home computer is what saved me, I hope everybody else knows to do that.

yes, I read your report, and that's what prompted me to post..... I just wish my backups to either my mac or my pc worked. Back last May, I also had heard that a notes database could be corrupted, and I had also removed them all to another repository, but even the upgrade to a newer OS with a totally rewritten Notes structure did not resolve the problem.

I'm really glad you're working again, and yes, do try to restore to another device. That's where I found my occasional icloud backup was not really functional as I'd hoped. What's weird is that I'd get complacent thinking "ah that last thing solved it" after I checked and it appeared working after resetting my phone as "new"..... and then realized that no backup had actually occurred successfully, and no error report that "no backup for x days" was occurring either.

Cheers!

Hey,

I have been using iCloud back for a while for multiple devices.

This week I was planing on adding another line to my account (Need for work). Since I have multiple old iPhones from the year's past I was going total one of them. I fully wiped the phone and when I tried to add the device to my iCloud account (200GB) (have 128GB available) And tried to set it up and do a back up to iCloud I noticed the error "The Last Backup Could not be completed" I was shocked. I don't have any backup's for their specific phone. I tired many different things. It never made any backup's I can only see this device on this phone and not another's. Can't delete a backup for this phone since none are there.

Multiple full Restores. Erase all Network.

I do have another iCloud which I tried and that DID WORK!! I was shocked I thought it had to do maybe with the phone or maybe even iCloud was down.

All my other devices seems to work with my old account and able to manually do a iCloud back.

I defiantly think there is something wrong with that specific iCloud account. If it keeps track of Id's or something and not allowing doubling. Not fully deleting the info. needed.

When I upgrade my phones I do restores so I thought maybe there was something odd going on with keeping the data.

I deleted the iCloud backup of my current iPhone and now when I try to start the backups again I am getting the same error's.

So I think there is an issue with the accounts and not the os since I can backup fine to a different iCloud. But the specific iCloud is't getting fully deleted from apple servers and now causing these issues and won't duplicate.

Hi ,

Yesterday the iCloud tool on my Windows gave some notification that it was full.

I deleted the backup via the tool.

Opened my iphone and wanted to do an icloud backup again.

For some reason the iCloud backup is "Off" . If I start it again is says "iCloud backup failed" "There was a problem enabling iCloud backup.

If I enable iCloud backup via iTunes. And then run backup it says "the last backup cannot be completed".

The things I tried:

-soft reset

-logout of icloud on iPhone and relogin

-reset network settings

Nothing helps...

I am in the same boat. No back up at all. I kept getting the message not enough storage (I had plenty, photos turned off) I bought more storage today, and still won't back up. So I came here to try and figure out a solution (I'm super busy and don't have time for this crap). It looks like no solution! Come on Apple!!! You are screwing up big time!!! Since the last update, a lot of my notes are missing, and my music is a mess!! I just my old Apple back!!! Get with the program!! I'm seriously thinking about selling my Apple stock!!! Get back to keeping it simple Apple, you are getting way too complicated and have taken your eye off the ball. Most people don't have time messing around with your mistakes!!

HI, I've got the same issue that iCloud doesn't backup even when running it manually. I've tried all the things possible even setting up my iPhone as a new one it still refuses to backup. "The last backup could not be completed." Will try update iOS as above but doesn't seem like it'll work from others comments. For now have to backup on itunes.

As reported earlier, my problem was no iCloud backups being run on my iPhone 5 and iPad for several weeks. Today (1-19-2016) I upgraded the iPhone to iOS 9.2.1. After the upgrade finished, I noticed that a successful iCloud backup completed on both the iPhone and iPad on 1-16-2016. Have not upgraded the iPad to 9.2.1 yet. I am not aware of anything I did that would have any impact on restarting of iCloud backups. I had been waiting for the next iOS release before looking at my problem again. I found the option for Back Up Now and am not sure if I was looking for it in the right place previously.
